Say a character has an ofiicial document (specifically, a set of identification papers, from Eberron Campaign Setting). What modifier would you apply for modifying it (as opposed to forging en entirely new set). The modifications would, of course, be fairly simple (changing a digit in the height or weight entry, or changing eye colour, for example).

Presumably, forgery kits include materials for doing it (mild acids to erase ink, for example).

And how would you handle the situation where the character tries to modify an already forged set of documents? Would it require two different Forgery checks to spot it was a forgery (one check for the original work, and one for modifications), or would it simply give a penalty to the check (or a bonus to the examiner's check)?

Regards.
