Freezing the Life Blood and Ability focus? [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-27-07, 04:14 PM Let's say I have Ab Focus (Stunning Fist) Does that mean FTLB also benefits? If not, would it be overpowered if I got my DM to rule it that way?

02-27-07, 04:21 PM Depends. It'd be nice if you mentioned the book FTLB is from, so I could look it up.

I think the general ruling would be something like: If ability X changes the effects of ability Y, then Ability Focus (Y) would also increase the DC of ability X (if any). But if ability X is seperate from ability Y, or merely uses up one of ability Y's daily uses, it would not benefit from Abilty Focus (Y).

02-27-07, 04:49 PM I'm inclined to say no but I forget the wording on Freezing the Life Blood (which is in CW I believe). Ability focus specifically says it only applies to one special attack. I don't think Freezing completely replaces Stunning Fist. Rather, Freezing gives you a different way to use Stunning Fist (similar to a bunch of other feats in CW).

Are you implying that Monks are underpowered?

In any case, FTLB is from Comp Warrior. I guess I'd have to tkae Ab Focus (FTLB) instea of Focus (Stunning Fist) then right?

*nod* If you're a straight monk, I know this hurts. Level 15 for FTLB and Level 18 for Ability Focus (FLTB) but it can be worthwhile.
