| prax04-11-07, 10:08 PM | i am working on a feat that lets u spend a stunning fist atemp to use your eldric blast as many times as u have furry of blows with the same penalties for accuracy of corse u would need both class ability but what lvl and is this feat to over powered? |
| Tempest Stormwind04-11-07, 10:14 PM | It depends on how it all comes together. Personally, I'd just use the Eldritch Glaive blast shape from Races of the Dragon. It's a full-round action. You channel eldritch energy into the shape of a glaive and make a full attack with it. |

| Karish04-11-07, 10:45 PM | Flurry of Blows would be unarmed attacksa or ki focus weapons. Eldritch blast is neither, so I can't see why you'd be able do it, even if you did expend stunning fist. It doesn't seem very balanced though. At 20th level (assuming monk 10/warlock 10, you discard Stunning Fist and perform about 4 attacks that do 5d6 damage each. A warlock 20 can do one at 10d6. You would be doing about 20d6 in damage at that point. Not sure how that is fitting. I'd just go for a pure warlock and do Eldritch Glaive. |
| Nebo04-11-07, 10:51 PM | Actually, the warlock is doing 9d6, 18d6 if he chose Quicken SLA like a proper Warlock. It doesn't seem to overpowering, especially since you have to spend a stunning attempt for it. It's good, but not overpowerering. |

Merciless Fury of the Barbazu In an attempt to harness your devil-granted powers better, you have studied the monastic traditions founded in the depths of Hell itself. Now you stand at the precipice, a storm of Baator-forged blades at your disposal to strike down all who oppose you. Prerequisites: Lawful Evil alignment, Flurry of Blows class feature, Still Mind class feature, Stunning Fist, able to use the eldritch glaive and brimstone blast invocations. Benefit: When you use the eldritch glaive invocation, the glaive you create appears similar in shape to the distinctive and brutal glaives of the bearded devils (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG52.jpg). You may treat the eldritch glaive as a special monk weapon and thus execute a flurry of blows with it. (You cannot execute a flurry with normal glaives; only the unnatural nature of this weapon enables you to wield it with such alacrity.) If you use the brimstone blast invocation, you can focus your soul to invoke a blast of hellfire that binds your enemey in firey torment. You may use the Stunning Fist feat (if you have it) through your eldritch blast, even at a distance. This costs a use of your Stunning Fist, as usual. These two effects can work together if you use both invocations at the same time (creating a brimstone glaive wreathed in infernal flames). There, that's pretty close. Note Still Mind + Eldritch Glaive = minimum level 9 for this feat. If that's too strong, cut all references to Brimstone Blast, the Stunning Fist requirement, and the Brimstone Blast requirement. I just liked the idea of having a barbazu's weapon cloaked in hellfire. |

| Tsuul04-12-07, 01:41 AM | The mind of Tempest Stormwind is where the feat can be found, along with loose marbles and things-that-go-bump-in-the-night. |
| Tempest Stormwind04-12-07, 01:54 AM | I made it up on the spot. It seemed like it did the job, once you take into account everything else that's present. I balanced it off of Flowing Mind Blade (which treats a mind blade as a monk weapon), but since Eldritch Glaive is superior to the mind blade in most regards, but available later, I decided to expand on it a bit to make it a bit more considerable for a warlock and to better fit the diabolic flavor. (See the updated flavor in my original post?) I was considering a version similar to that for rogues (req. SA+2d6 and all the invocations from above), that gave the glaive bleeding damage (like a real barbazu's glaive does, but only one per full attack) with the fire dealing bonus damage based on your sneak attack dice (say, +1 fire damage per die of sneak attack, both on initial fire and on per-round burning damage), but didn't think that would work out as well. That should balance it against Arterial Strike. |
| Egres04-12-07, 04:23 AM | Personally, I'd just use the Eldritch Glaive blast shape from Races of the Dragon. The Eldritch Glaive blast shape can be found in Dragon Magic. |

A Monk | Warlock could put this to good use. |

Let me know how it turns out (I'll account for the gestalting when I hear the report for rebalancing). |
| Bladerock04-12-07, 10:48 AM | After reading the posts by karish and neebo, i began thinking about something... isn't eldrich blast considered a weapon-like spell? If so, you can make a full attack with it (if i read the whole weapon-like spells section right), and thus a 20th level warlock can actually throw three of them as a full attack. Am i wrong about this? |
| mikeloop8604-12-07, 10:58 AM | No offense to Tempest, I absolutely love the feat, but you can achieve the Flurry/Eldritch combo through the Elightened Fist Prc in Complete Arcane. |
| Harliquinn04-12-07, 11:19 AM | Prerequisites: Lawful Evil alignment. I like it all but the alignment restriction. By their nature, normal monk/warlocks have to be Lawful Evil; however, if a character had some way of being something else, it seems the feat should still be usable. The demonic/devilish power of the warlock doesn't require them to be evil (they can even be good), so I wouldn't put the restriction on this feat. Harliquinn |
| Tempest Stormwind04-12-07, 11:38 AM | No offense to Tempest, I absolutely love the feat, but you can achieve the Flurry/Eldritch combo through the Elightened Fist Prc in Complete Arcane.I was away from my books (as you may have noticed with my slip-up on citing Eldritch Glaive earlier). Furthermore, I hate most of the Complete Arcane PrCs for how utterly broken a few representative ones are; as such I didn't bother reading Enlightened Fist (and was under the impression warlocks didn't qualify).I like it all but the alignment restriction. By their nature, normal monk/warlocks have to be Lawful Evil; however, if a character had some way of being something else, it seems the feat should still be usable. The demonic/devilish power of the warlock doesn't require them to be evil (they can even be good), so I wouldn't put the restriction on this feat. HarliquinnI'm well aware of this. However, I flavored it Lawful Evil because: 1) It's the only alignment a monk/warlock can normally be. 2) It relies on Eldritch Glaive, and the glaive is a signature weapon of the barbazu, a type of devil, and devils are Lawful Evil. The fit seemed too good to pass up. Note that if you're a DM who doesn't care about alignment (as I am), waiving alignment requirements that seem arbitrary (like the monk's, warlock's, and indeed, this feat's) is trivial anyway, while if you're a DM who likes alignment (I am not), 2 is reason enough to keep it. After reading the posts by karish and neebo, i began thinking about something... isn't eldrich blast considered a weapon-like spell? If so, you can make a full attack with it (if i read the whole weapon-like spells section right), and thus a 20th level warlock can actually throw three of them as a full attack. Am i wrong about this? You're totally wrong, since you can't do full attacks with weaponlike spells (rays and touch spells are weaponlike and can't be used in full attacks unless they say so). The only thing that sets a weaponlike spell apart from nonweaponlike spells is that they require attack rolls (and as such can critical-hit). That's *it*. Meanwhile, reread Eldritch Blast. He fires his blast as a standard action. This is NOT the same thing as an attack action; it's similar to casting a spell. Can your wizard cast two spells as a "full attack" (without the use of feats)? No? Neither can the warlock. Eldritch Glaive is distinctive because it says that as part of the full-round action you use to create it, you can make a touch attack with it... and if your base attack allows for additional attacks, you can make additional attacks with it. It's the exception, not the rule. |

I don't know when we'll play since RL has dragged one of the players away, and he's the one who suggested what I'm going to plan. |
| Shadowhowler04-12-07, 05:56 PM | Sort of a side question... I don't wanna hijack the thread tho... but it is related. I have heard MANY mentions of Dragon Magic in refrence to Warlocks... I'm looking at making a Warlock/Rouge... is there enough Warlock material in the Dragon Magic book to make it worth buying? |
