Having read the rules it does takes 1d4+ 1 hours. Does cast spells have to last your whole time your gather info roll took. |

| Ash the blackcowl03-05-07, 03:50 PM | In my campaign this is how it works. The party needs to learn a certain bit of information - The location of the Bloody Dagger Gang's hide out. At that point, I the DM, assign a DC and roll to determine how long it will take to learn this info. The player attempting to gather the info rolls this skill check. Anyone who wants to aid rolls the appropriate check and if he succeeds +2 is added to the primary information gatherer's roll. If the final roll is high enough, I let the player know that after x hours you succeed in finding an informant with the info you seek, we then roll play the meeting. Sometimes I use this to spin off into side trek adventures, releave the party of excess treasures, or even get them back on track. It also gives the DM a neat way to introduce some unique NPC's, and PC's with cha skills the opportunity to shine. |
