Are Cohorts Gestalted in Gestalt games?

If the DM increases the encounter challenges by Gestalting Monsters then I would say that your Cohort would beed to be Gestalt to contribute.

If the monsters are not gestalted then your cohort will contribute a little more but it will still feel shabby compared to the PCs, being lower level and non-gestalt.

Basically it's up to the DM but I would let them Gestalt.

I kind of see gestalt as an option to use instead of cohorts, rather then in addition to cohorts. I probably would ask that my players in a gestalt game not take Leadership.

Agreed kuonji, on second thought I would not allow cohorts in a Gestalt game. In fact I won't allow the Leadership Feat at all! Leadership is something you aquire by roleplay and not by selecting a feat.

In extremely small groups (like one or two players) gestalt by itself still won't quite make up for the small group size, so Leadership seems a reasnable option.

In normal or large sized groups Leadership on top of Gestalt is over the top, but Gestalt is already over the top, so it seems to me like not a problem again.

So, uh, in the case where gestalt is suggested for use, Leadership helps gestalt do its job. In cases where Gestalt is just playing gonzo crazy with the rules, Leadership is more of that goodness. So I don't see a problem.

But for the original question: since gestalt is an optional rule, we don't get this stuff spelled out. So it's whatever the GM and players agree upon, whether or not the cohort is gestalt. But I'd suggest they should be to still be able to contribute something.
