| Kikibobo07-04-07, 10:45 AM | Alright I have two questions that have come up in my last two campaigns. First off, with the exalted feat Golden Ice from BoED, if an evil character were put into a grapple how many times would he make the fort check? Is it every time the good character goes or is it only on the initial grapple? My second question is this: If I invest 4 ranks into the cross-class skill knowledge(religion), lets say, and take a prestige that makes knowledge(religion) a class skill, do I still have only 4 ranks in it, losing 4 skill points, or do I now have 8 ranks? I feel this is probably in a book but my friends and I have not found it. Thank you for any and all help! |

As for the cross-class quandary, I'd have to say that your Knowledge (religion) score there would still be at only 4 ranks. Your mind has expanded to allow you to learn more easily, but that doesn't change the amount you've learned to date or how difficult it was to learn before your mind was expanded. |

Edit: That probably doesn't explain it as well as it could...in fact, reading over it, it could even be confusing. When you gain a class level it gives you skill points. Those points are tied to that particular class. Say if you were to take a level of fighter, Knowledge:religion would be a cross-class skill and require 2 points per rank. Now, if you have 4 ranks and then go into a prestige class that has it as a class skill, the skill points you gain from that level can be used on a 1-to-1 basis for that skill. Meaning you'd still have 4 ranks, but you could use the prestige class's skill points to get it higher much easier than you could fighter skill points. |

Learning about religion as a fighter is much more difficult than as a cleric so its a cross-class but once i prestige my mind does not auto-expand as soon as I have an easier source of information. Any other thoughts on the golden ice question? |
| BOBB07-04-07, 12:55 PM | Golden ICE : this feat forces a save for every touch attack so if a monk used flurry on 4 attacks ( and hit ) the opponent would have to make 4 saves . If a pc & npc are grappling it gets tricky bec ause its really counted as one , long winded attack ( or as long winded as 6 seconds can be ) . So it can go either way 1 / round while grappling or 1 / attack the pc has . Just remember though , the same rule would apply to a vampire in a grapple - as their energy drain is a touch attack also - or any other creature that has a touch attack and might feel like giving the pc's a little hug ! :D |
