| Sul_Zain_Aserbet06-06-07, 06:13 PM | Hey guys. Im going to be playing a paragon orc Barbarian/fighter and prc into Orc Warlord, and i'm at a loss for good barbarian feats. I was thinking of taking exotic weapon prof: Orc double-Ax and focus: double Ax to keep The Eye of Gruumsh PrC open, and barring feats for Warlord Prc (leadership, might makes right, which means i wont take a level in this till 10 or so), ive got about two slots open. Was just gonna pick power attack and maybe imp initiative unless someone has a better suggestion. Any good suggestion would be apreciated. I don't play melee too often, so feel free to impart some wisdom! |
| Darth Sephiroth06-06-07, 06:50 PM | Power Attack and then Cleave are helpful in smashing your way through things. Since your're taking Leadership, take a glance through Heroes of Battle and consider some of the feats to improve leadership. |
| Sul_Zain_Aserbet06-06-07, 06:55 PM | ty sir! apreciate the advice |
| Koda7706-06-07, 10:13 PM | heedless charge, double damage on a charge but you provoke aoo's combined with a 2 handed weapon and leap attack that is 8:1 power attack on a charge 12;1 with a valourious weapon |
| hreslingozer06-06-07, 11:32 PM | Pump your jump skill and aim for Leap Attack. It's simply nasty. |
| Lixith06-07-07, 04:42 AM | This really depends on what kinds of combats your DM runs, and how often.... but i'd suggest the one that gives you more rages each day, and the one that makes your rages last longer. Both in complete warrior i think... I took a half-orc barbarian to level 26, and thanks to these feats it was VERY rare for me not to be rageing in combat. There's a few other rage based feats in the book as well... the others seemed more specilized to things i didn't do much,(like sunder) but you might want to take a look. |
| The_Shaman06-07-07, 04:57 AM | If you have a few feats left, you could afford to be a bit tactical... It sounds strange, but with an orc's strength tripping might be quite nasty. UEast had a feat that gave barbarians a bonus to trip checks and qualified them for I. Trip without needing Expertise with its Intelligence prerequisite. Perhaps you might want to go down this lane? Other than that, PA, possibly heedless charge, shock trooper, karmic strike, all of these could help. Can you tell us if you are playing in a specific region/setting, or gunning for any PrCs? |
| Exedeus06-09-07, 08:21 AM | Hi Sul_Zain_Aserbet For combat you might like Reckless Rage(RoS). Boosts you rage by an additional +2/+2 str/con and -2 AC more :D |
| Tyberian06-09-07, 12:35 PM | Destructive rage is a good one, it is in Complete Warrior, I believe, and gives a big bonus to breaking things when raging. Works well when sundering weapons....If you are in the FR where orc warlord comes from, perhaps you could choose a region that gives the fearless or tireless feat as an option. I would have to reread it, but I think it removes the fatigued level and makes all others one less. You would have to compare tireless and rage closely to see how it would work, or if it would help at all. Also, you could pick up iron will and later add legendary leader to orc warlord to gain fearless and a host of other goodies. Abilities with will saves like greater command work well against low wisdom races with low will base classes like fighter, warrior, and barbarian. Unless, of course, they are raging... |
| DrRufio06-09-07, 02:51 PM | Pump your jump skill and aim for Leap Attack. It's simply nasty. What book is that in? |
| Orion Polaris06-09-07, 02:58 PM | It's in Complete Adventurer if I remember correctly. |
| Goreg Skullcrusher06-09-07, 11:11 PM | Destructive rage is a good one, it is in Complete Warrior, I believe, and gives a big bonus to breaking things when raging. Works well when sundering weapons.... Unfortunately, the feat doesn't quite work like that. The bonus only applies to inanimate, immobile objects. Having said that, we do allow it to work on Sunder attempts at our games. |
| Orion Polaris06-15-07, 09:33 PM | Also Mad Foam Rager from Players Handbook 2 is certainly interesting, I've never used it, but ignoring the effects of nearly ANYTHING until the end of your next turn strikes me as something tremendously useful. |
| bookcollecter06-16-07, 10:21 AM | can someone tell me why gnomes can use the gnome hook hammer as a martial weapon and dwarves can use the urgrush and dwarven warhammer as martial weapons but orcs cant use the orc double axe as martial? i was going to point out he had another feat available to him but went to double check first and found i was wrong. also dont overlook grapple. one of our characters has spiked armor and a ton of grapple enhancing feats and equipment. she once held a spellcaster under water untill he drowned. combine with potion of enlarge and she grabbed a wyvern out of the sky and pinned with while everyone beat on it. its been surprisingly effective |
