Hello all! Been a while since i posted my various vigorous questions on the boards but hopefully my absence hasn't seen any sharp minds dull down! :P

Anyway, i am playing a Kalashtar Warblade (check my sig) with the Vow of Poverty and i have recently hit lvl 12 and am therefore able to take another Exalted feat. My question is:

The Ancestral Weapon Exalted feat allows you to 'sacrifice' magic items and gold and such to increase the power of a specific family weapon - but if i am using unarmed strikes as my primary weapon, then would it be too much of a stretch of the Vow of Poverty to go to a powerful Church, 'sacrifice' the money and items to the Church/the poor (etc.) and gain 'spiritual power' (in other words, the enhancements) as an exchange?

Or does this out and out violate the ideals of the feat? Because to me it kinda feels like the feat Vow of Poverty was designed in such a way that it promotes sacrifice. Does this mean MORE sacrifice = greater benefits of the soul (and therefore abilities)?

I am in two minds about this as a friend of mine has said that it is fine to go a Kensai PrC with the Vow of Poverty as you are burning XP to get the enhancements, and technically you don't OWN YOUR FISTS as MAGICAL WEAPONS (odd concept, no?) - so could my thoughts on this be the next logical extension?

Please post some arguments, because i need some thrid party input! :D

Character would be spending significant amounts of money/magic items to purchase personal gain.
IMO, that clearly violates the VoP.

Kensai, in contrast, sacrifices personal XP and there is no 3rd party purchasing

VoP in a sense, is a method by which you sacrifice your gear in order to gain bonuses. In the same way that your portion of gear doesn't go to the rest of the group- you also can't find some other way to benefit from it.

While as a DM i -might- allow some sort of diplomatic relation to develop
(i.e. Wow VoP Bob, this is your 30,000th gold piece donation, do you have a place to rest tonight? etc), i would be Extremely leery of allowing the player to "sacrifice" the same gold piece twice in order to gain more power.

The VoP is supposed to be your primary source of power. If you are looking for outside ways to go around the feat, I personally would rule they always fail.
