| Kirano08-13-07, 01:58 PM | Hi everyone, I noticed today that the Greater Spell Focus from the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting and from the Players Handbook were quite different. In FR it gives +4 to spell DC (does NOT stack with Spell Focus) and in the PHB it gives +1 and DOES stack with Spell Focus. I'm running a campaign in the Realms and wondered if one of them was a mistake? |

| Surgore08-13-07, 02:09 PM | I believe the forgotten realms setting is a 3.0 book, and the 3.0 greater spell focus gave +4. However, the updated 3.5 greater spell focus give a total of +2 to the DC. I'd go with the PHB. |
| Tempest Stormwind08-13-07, 05:53 PM | The 3.5 update to the FRCS was the Player's Guide to Faerun. For instance, some regional feats (i.e. Stealthy) became general PHB feats. The specific answer is that in 3.0, SF gave +2, and GSF gave a total of +4. In 3.5, SF gave +1, and GSF gave another +1 (total of +2). This was in part to solve the amazing DC + save-or-die problem that was consistently emerging in any game above level 7 or so with a wizard played appropriately for his Int score. |
