The feat reads "You gain a +4 bonus on checks or rolls to resist bull rush, grapple, overrun, and trip attempts made against you." The main part I am interested in is the grappling, since the character I just created is a fighter/monk, who will soon be moving into reaping mauler. So I am trying to improve his grapple as much as possible. The way I read it, the bonus will NOT apply for when YOU initiate a grapple check, but if your OPPONENT initiates the grapple you get the bonus. That part is pretty easy to understand. SO just to clarify you would apply the bonus when your opponent is trying to escape a grapple or pin seeing how it is the opponent that is initiating the check and you are trying to RESIST that attempt. |

The roll to prevent an opponent from escaping is certainly a grapple check, but it doesn't much sound like you're attempting to grapple him, and it certainly doesn't fit the nature of the feat. |
