Hey all,
Trying to make a BBEG that uses summoned monsters and conjuration spells.
I've got Augmented Summoning, Spell Focus:Conj and Cloudy Conjuration. Are there any other feats that will aid or augment summoned creatures or bump up summoning spells?

Hey all,
Trying to make a BBEG that uses summoned monsters and conjuration spells.
I've got Augmented Summoning, Spell Focus:Conj and Cloudy Conjuration. Are there any other feats that will aid or augment summoned creatures or bump up summoning spells?

The only feats I can think of other than yours are the Celestial/Fiendish Summoning feats from Planar Handbook. The Spontaneous Summoner feat from Complete Divine grants you the druidic ability to spontaneously cast summon nature's ally spells but requires you to know at least one summon nature's ally spell in the first place. That's tough if you're not a druid (who wants to take Extra Spell for summon nature's ally II?).

PrCs that improve your summoned pets: the malconvoker (Complete Scoundrel) and the demon summoner from BoVD come to mind offhand. The alienist from Complete Arcane adds the pseudonatural template to any creature that would normally be a celestial or fiendish creature, but it restricts your summoning ability a great deal (you can't summon non-pseudonatural creatures, like mephits or fiends). Even the Master Specialist wizard PrC from Complete Mage can improve a conjurer's efficacy. The variant specialist rules in Unearthed Arcana are beneficial for conjurers as well, but this assumes your BBEG's a specialist wizard.

Are you really sure you want Cloudy Conjuration? That sickened effect only lasts for one round and only affects one square, plus the save DC isn't very high. You might get better use of something like Extend Spell to make sure your pets hang around long enough to be useful.

If he's a druid (or has the Spontaneous Summoner feat), there's a feat in the Eberron Campaign Setting that grants all his summoned animals a +3 luck bonus to attack rolls and doubles the duration of the summons. I'm not sure if it would apply to non-druidic, non-summon-nature's-ally creatures, but that's for you to decide as the DM.

In an arcane caster's case, the summon undead spells should be on his list. I think they're in Spell Compendium, but I'm not certain.

(My favorite summoner build is actually wizard/druid/arcane hierophant. Get the best of both worlds!)
