The best thing I can recommend for feats is the focus and specialization chain that leads up to weapon supremacy taken in whatever bow you take, which I'd recommend a composite bow or whichever one allows you to use your strength for damage. For that I mean take the weapon focus and specialization stuff out of the main book as well as a couple of feats from the Player's Handbook 2, the whole chain helps with to-hit and damage rolls which always helps.

Are there any feats like rapid shot and manyshot that will increase the # of arrows fired?

Take Exotic weapon proficiency with a greatbow (d10 damage). If you're an elf your DM might allow it as a racial weapon.
Also, take flaws. There are two which are perfect for archers: noncombatant and frail. They don't impare your abilities too much and you get two feats on first level, and if you're human that's 5 feats (4 if you're anything else).

screw fighter get a scout, they are masters of bows, there are feats and magic items that help them out tremendously.

I have a scout character that moves 20 feet each round and does 1d8+4 plus 6d6+2 with each arrow. twice per day he can fire two arrows with skirmish instead of one. (he is level 11 scout), there is a feat that increases the range of skirmish and sneak attack to 60 feet, but only works with crossbows.

feats
improved skirmish (+2d6 skirmish)(complete scoundrel)
crossbow sniper (players handbook 2)

magic items
skirmisher boots (magic item compendium)

If your DM will allow material from 3.0, check out the Deepwood Sniper PrC from Masters of the Wild for long ranged combat. Order of the Bow Initiate is a good one too if you want to maximize damage, but this involves you getting close to the enemy.

Mounted archery builds aren't half bad either if you like the idea of hit & run attacks. For that, check out the Wild Plains Outrider PrC and combine that with saddleback (if in Forgotten Realms), mounted combat, mounted archery, and improved MA.

Theres a feat in the PHBII that lets the arrow be treated as a ray and it passes through several opponents in a straight line its great for large scale combat

Greater Manyshot is a decent feat for when you need to spread your arrows out a bit more, especially so if you go the scout route since you can move, GM, and get skirmish damage for all you arrows.

It's not much of a sniper, more of a "short-range mobile arrow platform", but I second the scout (better yet, scout/ranger with the swift hunter feat and greater manyshot) - surprisingly powerful shoots while doing a "John Woo dive" are fun.
If you want a long range, static shooter, however, I can think only of the Cragtop Archer (from races of stone, IIRC). Longest range than anyone else. Remember to keep Spot high - so much range is useless if you can't see for the best part of it.

Ninja would be cool too. Put your 17 in Wisdom and 13 in Strength to have more Ki Power. You Ghost Step, Sudden Strike, and enjoy... :smirk:

Coordinated shoot is pretty at low levels makes it so allies don't count as soft cover.
