| Evil_Black_Hearted_Troy04-19-07, 01:51 PM | I'm looking for decent feat choices for a lvl 5 Rougue/lvl 5 Assassin. I don't have all the nesessary source material for any sort of specialized feats or anyhting like that. So i was wondering if i could get a few suggestions. Thanks all |

Utilize it!!! Two weapon fighter: Good for getting in there and dealing lots 'o sneak attack damage while flanking (get a good fighter friend to help). L1 - TWF H1 - Improved Initiative L3 - Weapon Finesse (if high enough Dex to Str) L6 - Weapon Focus (Short sword) L9 - Improved TWF Feinter: Utilize feinting ability (probably not your strongest option) to get sneak attacks when not flanking. This would work better with 5 levels of Invisible Blade... L1 - Combat Expertise H1 - Improved Initiative L3 - Weapon Finesse (if high enough Dex to Str) L6 - Improved Feint L9 - Skill Focus (Bluff) - could probably do better... Ranged fighter: Stay out of melee and shoot your foes. You still need to get close to use your death attack though... L1 - Point Blank Shot H1 - Precise Shot L3 - Rapid Shot L6 - Weapon Focus (Short bow) L9 - ??? (maybe Far Shot) Skirmisher: Get in, stab (preferably flank), get out! L1 - Dodge H1 - Improved Initiative L3 - Weapon Finesse (if high enough Dex to Str) L6 - Mobility L9 - Spring Attack Just a few suggestions (in absense of knowing what direction you want). Also, try the character optimization boards (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=30&f=339) for some great ideas. :D I suggest Improved Initiative a lot, because if you go before your enemy, they'll be flat-footed, for that extra sneak attack. |

| Chimaera200004-19-07, 11:06 PM | RobbyPants has a lot of good suggestions. One thing that may have caught your eye is that Improved Initiative is included for almost every single one of his builds. This is with good reason; Improved Initiative allows you to go first, meaning that you can get the drop on your foe and sneak attack before they can get the drop on you. dragynson1's suggestion is also very appropriate; you can find the Ability Focus feat in the Monster Manual or the System Reference Document (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsterFeats.htm#abilityFocus). I personally favor the two-weapon fighting option for rogue-types utilizing sneak attack. For an assassin who needs to be within melee range to deliver a sneak attack, this makes even more sense. More attacks mean more opportunities to deliver sneak attack damage. You may also consider the Great Fortitude feat when you've taken the essential feats for your combat style. Save-or-dies can be nasty at higher levels and you don't want to take chances. |
