How balanced is this feat? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Improved Leadership [General
Prerequisites: Character level 15+, Leadership, Leadership score 20+
Benefits: Increase your Leadership score by +3.

09-28-07, 11:48 PM I'd say it's rather weak. You Leadership score doesn't have to be very good to get the highest level cohort you can have, so all this is really doing is getting you more followers. If you want more followers, just hire some. (Or use maxed out Diplomacy or magic to convince them to follow you.)

So unless there's some twinky use for a high leadership score I don't know, I would certainly allow it.

Considering their are feats from a variety of sources that provide a +1 to +2 to Leadership AND a noticeable bonus to something else (e.g. ECL-1 for Cohort instead of ECL-2, Doubling Followers) that feat is, if anything, under powered. An extra +1 to +2 to Leadership is nothing unless you have access to Epic Leadership.

You nailed it. This is a feat I'm proposing to my DM for an upcoming level 30 game. My Cohort was level 25, and he'd end up getting 2 extra epic feats if he were 2 levels higher (normal one at 27 and a bonus epic feat for being a 26th level cleric). He told me he'd allow it as an epic feat, which I won't do, so I had to take 2 points off my INT and put it on CHA (I'm a wizard/cleric/mystic theurge/archmage) to raise my leadership score by 1, which was enough to get him to level 26. Not all of what I wanted, but a solid compromise.
