A friend of mine was talking about a feat the humans take at first level and makes it so all skills are considered class skills for them, is this real, and if so does it seem unbalanced at all, i like the idea and hope it is real...

thank you

I think there's a feat that makes cross-class skills cost 1 point instead of 2 but they're still considered cross-class for the purposes of maximum ranks.

Yes, the feat is real. It's called Able Learner (IIRC), and I believe it is in Races of Destiny.

Frugal is correct.

The feat Able Learner does not make all skills class skills.

What it does is make cross-class skills cost the same as class skills.

The main difference is that it does not affect the max ranks per level.

To get the max ranks, you need to take at least one level of a class that has it each skill as a class skill.

so a first level character taking this feat can still only have 2 ranks in a Cross-class skill, but only cost 2 skill points, i guess thats cool, isn't there a feat in Forgotten realms the makes all the knowledge skills class skills?

To get the max ranks, you need to take at least one level of a class that has it each skill as a class skill.

Correction: To get max ranks, you must be taking a level for which that skill is class.

For Example: A 3rd Level Fighter/ 1st level Rogue goes up to character level 5. In order to max any Rogue skills that are not also Fighter skills (e.g. he wants to max Hide and Tumble), his 5th level must be Rogue or another class that has those skills on its 'Class Skills' list. He could not max [Hide and Tumble] if he took Fighter as his 5th level.

Able Learner, as above, removes the cross-class cost, but not the cross-class rank limit. Your potential feat, by removing the concept of cross-class skills, removes both the associated cost and limit. I'd reduce its effect to apply to two or three skills if you were going to use it in play and didn't want to use Able Learner.

This is patently incorrect.

Well shut my mouth. I swear that's changed somewhere along the line and that it used to be as I explained above, but I'm probably just wrong. Ah well, can't win 'em all...
