This is a tactical feat that I created for a PC that I'm running in my DMs homebrew campaign, and I'm *hoping* he'll let me take it, so I figured I'd post on here and see what you guys had to say about it before I hand him the final version of it.

Hurricane Adept [Tactical Feat]
The Hurricane Adept was created by a follower of Athelas Tu'Cretok and can be used by anyone, but its most powerful abilities are in the hands of the disciples of the Righteous Storm.
Prerequisites: Flurry of blows, base attack bonus +4, Power Attack, Improved Bull Rush, Run.
Benefit: You gain the use of the following three tactical maneuvers.

Eye of the Maelstrom: To use this maneuver, you must use the total defense action during your turn. On your next turn, you must use a flurry of blows to attack a foe you threaten. For this turn and until the beginning of your next turn, you retain the dodge bonus to AC that you received from your total defense action in the previous round.

Driving Wind: To use this maneuver, you must bull rush an opponent. When you do so, you push your opponent back as normal if you win the bull rush opposed check, but do not have to follow it up with your own movement in order to continue the push. If you have the swift wind ability, during the next round of combat, you gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage for each square (5 feet) of movement that your opponent was moved.

Racing Stormfront: To use this maneuver, you must move beyond your base movement on the round before making an attack. This movement cannot be a charge. On the next round's attack, you may add a bonus to either your attack or AC equal to the previous round's movement divided by 10. Starting the round after this maneuver is used, you are considered exhausted for the remainder of the encounter. This maneuver can only be used a number of times per day equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1). If you have the swift wind ability, this bonus to attack may be applied to a bull rush check made at any point between the completion of the movement over your base and the beginning of your next turn.

Just to clarify, the ability mentioned, swift wind, is an ability that my PC, a monk and follower of Athelas (god of honor and war in the campaign world) gains as a practitioner of the Righteous Storm, the monk path he's on.

Swift wind is a replacement ability for making AoOs for the character, basically substituting any AoO with a bull rush attempt. This interrupts the enemy movement, and usually disrupts whatever it is they were attempting to do.

So yeah. let me know what you guys think!

OK, well let me start it off by going over my thought process and alla that. First off, the Righteous Storm is a monk path that my DM had created for his campaign and my PC. Its key defining elements are swift movement and placement of body, as well as precisely placed blows.

The selection of abilities and feats for the prerequisites follow along the same lines as the bonus feats and required feats for a follower of the Righteous Storm style. They also tie into the abilities granted by the tactical feat.

As an ability, I don't think that the eye of the maelstrom maneuver and its benefit are overpowered, comparatively to other tactical feats that I've looked at for comparison. The main reason for creating this was that as a follower of the Righteous Storm style, you are bound by a code of honor when in combat, not allowing you to make the first strike. I feel this ability makes up for that lack in a way, allowing you to retain a powerful defense, even as you begin to mount an offense.

Driving Wind was taken from the Combat Brute feat in CW, then tweaked a bit to get it where it is. I made this because the idea of a powerful and violent shove away from you, causing an opponent to keep moving without you having to follow up seems pretty nice. No AoOs from enemies whose squares you might have otherwise passed through when following up on that bull rush, but you still get to move your foe the same as if you had.

The idea behind racing stormfront is that you channel all your speed from moving into battle into a single, powerful strike. I placed restrictions on this maneuver because it has HUGE potential to be completely and utterly broken. But I feel the usage restriction as well as the condition after use (exhausted), gives it a pretty good off-set as far as usability. Its comparable in some ways to certain spells a wizard/sorcerer might get to use, but you are far more limited in how often you can use this maneuver.

So yeah. That's how my brain was workin when I was creatin this feat.

Comments? Suggestions? Flaming death?

Tactical feats are for fighters, i know there are some for monks but that doesn't change my opinion.

I think this looks pretty good the exaustion does balance it out i see no problems(but then again I generally don't).

Thanks for the feedback. I usually have a really hard time balancing feats out so that they aren't uber overpowered, but I think I did alright with this one, at least for a first draft.

I agree, most of the tactical feats are very much fighter-y. And gosh darnit, something has to be just for the fighters! They get no love *sigh*
