... and I saw the ordained champion. This is a class that combines the talents of clerics with the talents of a paladin. So I was thinking to make a feat that does the same in a way.

so here it goes.

[Name here]
prerequisites: 1 level of cleric and 1 level of paladin

benefits: your levels in paladin stack with your levels in cleric for your caster level.

your levels in cleric stack for the purpose of your speacial mount

your smite is determined by combining your levels for damage number of times per day.

you can multiclass freely between the two.

so is this too powerful? too weak? I had some other Ideas but I did not put them in the feat.

these are what they are.
smite is now based on wis.
lay on hands is now based on wis.
divine grace is now based on wis.

If you do not like these Ideas then please show me your Ideas.

Hmm, the only comment I can impartially make is that medium turquoise is a bad color for text on this message board.

The smite part may be a bit too strong.

so do you think the rest of it might be fine? should I remove it? should I change it? if I change it what might you suggest?

thanks in advance.

It it was somehow just usable by paladins then it would be a great feat. But basically its just going to make the Cleric better.

So now the clerics can get divine grace and smite to go along with their full spell casting progression (barring the few dip levels into paladin) and they'll get martial weapon proficency.

Also there is already a feat that allows the paladin abilities to work off WIS if i'm not mistaken.

you can multiclass freely between the two.One point about the first line. You do realise that "caster level" is distinct from "spellcasting level"?

The latter determines the number and level of spells a spellcaster can cast per day. The former controls the parameters of the spell - range, duration and so on. Anything based on "level" in a spell's description.

What this means is that as written, a Clr 3 / Pal 4 will have the spellcasting capacity of a 3rd level cleric (casting spells no higher than 2nd level) but has a caster level of 7 (so Cure Mod will heal 2d8+7, for example). I have no objection to the feat if it does that.

I would not support allowing the paladin level to add to the cleric's spellcasting level.

It does allow you to get a mount ealier for paladin and help the mount out.

How would you word it/make the feat?

I would not support allowing the paladin level to add to the cleric's spellcasting level.

Yeah I thought it would make this feat overpowered if I made it spellcasting level but I really didn't know the difference.

So any Idea how to word this feat better and I guess to help the palidin out more?

note that these.
smite is now based on wis.
lay on hands is now based on wis.
divine grace is now based on wis.

are not part of the feat but I think would be a useful replacement for any of these.
