Does feint make a target flat-footed? It says they are denied thier dex but does being denied dex mean you are flat-footed. If not how do you become flat-footed after round 1? Any help would be greatly appreciated

There are a few abilities that specifically render a target flat footed (spells, alternate class features, etc...)...but why do you specifically need to render a target flat footed? For sneak attack for instance, being denied dex is all it takes, so feint does the trick.

Ah, well the 1st level SPC spell Distract Assailant specifically renders a target flat footed for 1 round. Swift Action to cast too.

Try also the Raptor School tactical feat and the Flick of the Wrist feat in the CW.

Wait, so flatfooted and denied a Dexterity bonus are 2 different things? O my.....

Well, if a friend has invisibility sphere, or you becoming invisible through an item/spell it might help since a samurai probably would not have much in the ways of stealth. That is of course, if invisibility made your target flat-footed, which now I am not so sure anymore....

Wouldn't change much for me, since there was never really an issue with anything I ran into. First round of battle, everyone who hasn't gone yet was flat-footed aka denied dex bonus.

Invisibility denies your opponent's dex bonus to AC and gives you a +2 bonus to attack.

Flat footed is a worse condition, since your opponent can't even make AoOs and so on.

Flat footed is a worse condition, since your opponent can't even make AoOs and so on.You can't take AoOs against an invisible opponent either. So actually invisibility and flat-footedness impose the same limitations.

Actually that's incorrect.

If I'm invisible I deny my opponents their dex bonus to AC but they can still make AoOs against other opponents.

If invisibility made them flat footed they wouldn't be able to make AoOs at all.

If invisibility made them flat footed they wouldn't be able to make AoOs at all.Sorry; I should have been more careful with the way I phrased that.

The point I was trying to make is is that the creature is flat-footed wrt you. And that is a reasonable way to describe the condition that has only come into use recently. (Although I now can't find the passage I saw it used).

skill tricks from Complete scoundrel hidden blade and sudden draw, but that might be hard to get ranks in slight of hand if your are a samurai, and you can only use them once per fight. "or 1 minute, but you probably won't get a second chance."

Flat-Footed is specifically what happens when you have not yet gotten a chance to act in a combat.
Just to be silly, a rare few spells and effect specifically state the target is made flat footed.

Part of being flat-footed is losing your Dex bonus to AC, but there are plenty of other ways to go about doing that. People often confuse flat-footed with denied dex bonus because of the major similarity of ... being denied your dex bonus. That and the official 3.5 character sheet has a spot for "flat footed AC" when it would be more useful in general for it to say "denied dex bonus AC." Less of a ring there though.

Flat-footed is a condition, just like Paralyzed, Shaken, Prone, etc. A game term which has a specific meaning relating to your condition.

Flat-Footed
A character who has not yet acted during a combat is flat-footed, not yet reacting normally to the situation. A flat-footed character loses his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) and cannot make attacks of opportunity.
