| dawnbringer02-23-08, 01:37 PM | I've got a warforged dungeoncrasher fighter as my backup character. Does anyone know of a way to get improved trip without the 13 int or combat expertise requirement? It can be either a mundane or magical solution. |
| dman1123502-23-08, 05:54 PM | Monk 6 bonus feat. That's about it. At least, as far as I know. Might be a bonus feat for another class. |
| dawnbringer02-23-08, 06:44 PM | is there any magical way? |
| InkBlot02-23-08, 07:06 PM | I believe there's a Barbarian variant in Complete Champion which grants Improved Trip as a bonus feat (no prereqs needed). But I don't have the book. |
| runestar02-23-08, 09:10 PM | Unapproachable east should have a feat which lets you take improved trip without having to meet the requirements.:) |
| Khan the Destroyer02-23-08, 09:28 PM | The 2nd level of the Wolf Totem Barbarian variant in Unearthed Arcana grants you Improved Trip as a bonus feat and allows you to ignore the prerequisites. |
| dman1123502-23-08, 11:33 PM | I should have remembered the barbarian variant in UA. I just looked at it not two days ago. As for magical, there might be a weapon enhancement that lets you act as if you had the feat with that weapon. Other than that, no. |
| Orenmir02-23-08, 11:51 PM | Exotic Weapon Master has the Trip Attack stunt. Yet, it's not quite as good as Improved Trip. But, you can get it with only a one level dip (granted you meet the prereqs). |
| Whisper_Swiftblade02-24-08, 10:02 AM | I've got a warforged dungeoncrasher fighter as my backup character. Does anyone know of a way to get improved trip without the 13 int or combat expertise requirement? It can be either a mundane or magical solution. Well effectivly triping an opponent leaves them prone, so if you can't trip maybe something that duplicates the effects. the use of a net, or maybe a poison might do the trick. I am pretty sure there was a gigantic log called a caber in one splat book that could be thrown to knock opponents down, this sounds plently barbarian to me. BTW if magic is avalible, is it possible to simply rase your int to 13? |
| dman1123502-24-08, 04:05 PM | I believe there is a feat that requires Power Attack, and it's something like Knock-down. I know there is Knock-Back, but I think there is a knock down as well. |
| Lyndis02-24-08, 05:46 PM | knockdown is 3.0. |
| dman1123502-24-08, 05:57 PM | Where is it from? Also, I didn't think that was the actual name. I guessed. EDIT: Found it in Sword and Fist and Deities and Demi-gods. EDIT take 2: It requires Imp Trip, so that's not the one I was looking for. EDIT take 3: just because it is 3.0 doesn't mean it is not allowed for use in 3.5. That only applies to some things. And sometimes it gets updated, or needs no updating. |
| dawnbringer02-24-08, 07:15 PM | Thanks guys for the help, but i really don't want to be a barbarian :(. I'm a true neutral character. After fighter 6 it will be warforged juggernaught 5 then probly fighter the rest of the way. I was hoping to get improved trip to go with improved sunder and combat brute without the combat expertise requirement. My feat selections are pretty tight at the moment as is. I don't have unnaproachable east, what does the feat do? |
| BruceLeeroy02-24-08, 08:22 PM | I believe it's called Wolf Lodge Totem, it grants a +4 to trip attempts and allows you to take Imp. Trip without any other prereq. I'm not sure what the requirements are. |
| runestar02-24-08, 08:31 PM | I believe it's called Wolf Lodge Totem, it grants a +4 to trip attempts and allows you to take Imp. Trip without any other prereq. I'm not sure what the requirements are. You need to rage and come from Rashemi (the rp requirement might be harder to meet without DM fiat). Also, if you are a goliath, consider the knockback feat. Thus, a sample combat scenario would go something like... Activate Power attack + heedless charge - Charge - Initiate free bull rush (and take free AoO when the foe gets pushed out of your threatend square) - push foe into another foe - activate shock trooper (directed bull rush + domino rush) - trip both and get bonus attacks from improved trip.:) And be sure to rage (become large) and wield a spiked chain for the 20-ft reach. |
| InkBlot02-24-08, 08:56 PM | Thanks guys for the help, but i really don't want to be a barbarian :(. I'm a true neutral character. There's nothing wrong with a True Neutral Barbarian. The alignment restriction only bars Lawful types. |
| Khan the Destroyer02-24-08, 09:12 PM | Keep in mind that you can trip people even without the feat, and if you use a weapon, you don't provoke an AoO. That said, maybe you could consider Improved Overrun instead. It works differently, but ends up with your opponent prone on a success. The feat only requires Power Attack, and it fits the juggernaught theme as well. You could overrun, and then sunder with the AoO the enemy triggers trying to stand up. Other than the barbarian levels, I'm not sure how to get Improved Trip without the requisites. |
