The Improved Weapon Familiarty feet from Complete Warrior states:

You can treat all the exotic weapons associated with your race as martial weapons rather than exotic weapons. A weapon is treated as being associated with your race if the race's name appears as part of the weapon's name...

I assume by this that if I am playing a Human and take this feat I will in the end gain nothing because there are no exotic weapons that have human in the weapon's name. Or can I take this feat and name a race and thus gain be able to treat all exotic weapons for that race as martial?

One other question, how does taking this feat work for Half-Elves or Half-Orcs? Do they get the benefit because Of the Orc Blood and Elf blood rules from the PH (Page 18 and 19)

Thanks

Well, the race used is what your race is. So, until WotC starts printing the human axe, human super bow, or whatever, than humans will get no benifit.

As for the half-elves and half-orcs, I think their elf-blood and orc-blood trait will allow them to use elven and orcish weapons with this feat.

Talk to your DM perhaps they will let a human take if for another race. Most of the DMs I play with will allow a human to take the feat to be proficient with a particular race's weapons.

It's a DM's call, in my case I'd say both.
