No idea what your trying to say with the D6. Feats to help you out: spell focus, greater spell focus, tattoo focus, theirs also a feat from forgotten realms campaign setting that needs to be taken at 1st lvl that may help you out, cant think of it off hand though. Items: robes of the archmage, anything that ups your ability score for that type of caster(ex:headband of int), tomes of understanding, etc. The red wizard also gets a bonus up to a +6 I think by the end of the 10 lvl class. |
| goawayugh11-07-07, 01:39 PM | DCs of a d6??? |
| stupishinji11-08-07, 04:18 AM | DCs of a d6??? yes the feat grants you the possibility to increase the dc with a d6 roll adding the result to your standard value. ex. normal dc 20, you roll a d6 and add the result to 20. the only problem is that I can't remember the name of the feat....or perhaps I'm wrong and that isn't a feat but some abilities from prestige class, but I don't think so. |
| lamrar11-08-07, 04:52 AM | Maybe you are thinking about the Wild Mage prestige class from complete arcane. They don't get to add d6 to their spells dc though. They permanently lose 3 caster levels, but everytime they cast a spell, they roll a d6 and adds this number to their CL to determine their CL for that spell. If this turns out to be a feat from somewhere, then let me know :) |

I only deal with official WotC products. Sorry, can't help. |
| stupishinji11-08-07, 09:22 AM | ok I found it......the feat name is pious spellsurge from Complete Divine pag. 87. |

I'm not a DM but when I saw the party's priest use that feat my jaw dropped to the ground and want to know if also my arcane caster can use it......unfortunately the answer is no. |
| Finarin Panjoro11-08-07, 10:03 AM | There's always Heighten Spell (from the PHB). You increase the effective level of the spell and therefore the Save DC goes up as well. For example, if you memorize fireball as a sixth level spell it would have a save DC of 16+int mod (if you're a wizard or cha mod if you're a sorceror). |
| 1 ton ghost11-08-07, 11:54 AM | i'm of the opinion it's better to lower the enemy's Save than up the spell's DC. that is, it's better for a team mindset; all PCs benefit that can force a Save and more importantly, they can assist the primary caster. case in point (default 4 PC party; 1 tank, 1 scoundrel, 1 arcane, 1 divine): -group of adventurers (looters really) burst into a room 1 big villian. -high Int magi says delay or ready to "help me out" -Ftr attempts to demoralize foe via Intimidate, rogue can assist -Rogue can try a SA feat designed to lower a Save, stun, or stagger, etc. -Cleric can cast Doom, Bestow Curse, any debilitating spell -finally, magi takes his turn against a newly Shaken or otherwise messed up advesary (lower Saves). long story short, his save is less likely to work and mage has already had time to gauge enemy's reaction to other PCs attacks; this will often tell him what enemy's strong suit is, Will, Rflx, Frt provided relevant Knowledge check didn't to begin w/. -the downward spiral of progressively worse Saves benefits all though. it's just a matter of conferencing the casters ahead of time to prep spells accordingly and doing a little homework rather than just "kick-in-the-door" and attack haphazardly. |
