| T_Stalker04-13-08, 03:08 PM | Ever since I laid eyes on the feat Invisible Spell (Cityscape), I knew there was potential for it. However as is, its too unbalanced in nearly every way to be playable. Therefor I tried to rework it into 2-3 different feats that I find should be workable. 1. Invisible Blasts Benefit: You can modify any spell with an instantaneous duration you cast so that it carries no visual manifestation. All other aspects of the spell, including range, area, targets, and damage remain the same. A spell modified using the Invisible Blasts feat uses a spell slot of the spell’s normal level. 2. Unseen Magic Prerequisite: Spellcraft 5 ranks, able to cast Invisibility Benefit: You can modify any non-(Summoning) spell of 3rd level or lower, with a duration measured in rounds so that it carries no visual manifestation. All other aspects of the spell, including range, area, targets, and damage remain. The effects of the spell remain unseen until said spell deals damage to any creature. the same. A spell modified using the Unseen Magic feat uses a spell slot one level higher then the normal spell. 3. Unseen Higher Magic: Prerequisite: Unseen Magic feat, Spellcraft 10 ranks, able to cast Improved Invisibility Benefit: You can modify any spell of 6rd level or lower so that it carries no visual manifestation. All other aspects of the spell, including range, area, targets, and damage remain. The effects of the spell remain unseen until said spell deals damage to any creature. the same. A spell modified using the Unseen Higher Magic feat uses a spell slot two levels higher then the normal spell. I'm a player as well as a DM. The original feat really interests me as it has serious potential on both sides of the table. The alternatives I offered here are probably not foolproof, but I figured they could be a good start. Bottom line: Do you think these feats are balanced ? Critique / comment please. |

Simply rule that Invisible spell does not work with Conjuration: Summoning effects, and it's perfectly fine. |

| T_Stalker04-15-08, 07:35 AM | True Seeing's subject sees invisible creatures or objects normally. Invisible Spell turns Obscuring Mist invisible. => True Seeing sees normal mist. FYI, this rework of the feat does not prevent that combo. Obscuring Mist is a (Creation) spell, not of the (Summoning) subschool. |
