| Red_Wizards_Rock12-21-07, 08:51 AM | I'm playing a dex based character and I was wondering if anyone knew a feat that would add Dex to Melee Damage. |
| goawayugh12-21-07, 08:54 AM | x stat to y bonus (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=320889&page=1&pp=30) |
| runestar12-21-07, 08:55 AM | Shadow blade or something from Tome of battle, but you need access to a shadow hand stance (which will involve either taking 1 lv in swordsage or expenditure of extra feats), and it applies only to a very small list of weapons. |
| draco111912-21-07, 09:14 AM | I'm playing a dex based character and I was wondering if anyone knew a feat that would add Dex to Melee Damage. Don't know of a feat to do it, but the Champion of Corellon Larethian PrC from Races of the Wild has it as a class feature. |
| LeuktheSavior12-21-07, 09:17 AM | go to crystalkeep.com either in 3.0 feats of 3.5 feats there is a feat called extra finesse. |
| elondir12-21-07, 09:28 AM | Doesn't weapon finesse do that? |
| goawayugh12-21-07, 09:35 AM | Doesn't weapon finesse do that? No. Weapon Finesse lets you use your Dex instead of Str for attacks with light weapons. Not damage. |
| Salick12-21-07, 01:07 PM | In the 3.0 Arms and Equipment Guide their is a sword of graceful strikes that grants dex instead of str on dmg. Perhaps your DM would let you use that enchantment on whatever weapons you use. |
| Red_Wizards_Rock12-22-07, 08:37 AM | Thx for the help I'll be looking into these. |
| Voran12-23-07, 07:26 PM | Visually how would one describe this? I mean, I can understand finesse, where you've aimed your attack just a little better, but without it becoming something like 'sneak attack' how would being more nimble result in more actual damage? |

Well strength would use brute force to get the blade between your opponent's ribs. Dexertity would allow you to twist the blade to slide it between the ribs rather then grind against the bone. Strength doesn't make a good cut, balance direction does, |
| OpakeDragon12-26-07, 09:46 AM | so if we could convince our DM to house rule: Extra Finesse Prereqs: Weapon Finesse Benefit: You can use your DEX bonus instead of your STR bonus for damage inflicted using a weapon you can use Weapon Finesse with. Special: Fighters may take this feat as one of their bonus feats. would that be balanced for 3.5? go to crystalkeep.com either in 3.0 feats of 3.5 feats there is a feat called extra finesse.(found this in the 3.0 pdf from the above link) EDIT: I think it is worth it to note that while this feat allows you to replace your Str for your Dex to damage, Shadow Blade allows you to add your Dex to damage warranting the higher prereqs. |
| 1 ton ghost12-27-07, 02:38 PM | closest thing i can think of is Hit and Run Tactics, Drow of the Underdark it is a Ftr alternative ability; in lieu of Heavy Armor and Tower Shield Proficiency (this is for all future classes too btw), you may add your Dex to dmg vs. Flat-Footed (not ppl w/ "no Dex bonus) enemies w/in 30ft, ranged or melee. not bad if you're keen on stealth and can capitalize on darkvision too. -the reason there isn't a feat to add Dex to melee dmg in addition to Weapon Finesse is that it would be too damn good. IMO, Dex is the best overall stat as it affects more mechanics than the others; all manner of AC, Rflx, Init, a slew of good skills, all ranged attacks and some melee in this case, etc. ...it's just so versatile. game balance is what i'm saying IMO, that's all. if there were a feat, it should be for 1 specific weapon, not a group like Finesse allows, and that already is being overly generous. the whole point to Finesse is that you're stressing Dex, and thusly, AC as a byproduct. ultimately, you won't hit as hard as the brtue Ftr, but you will more than likely not get as often as him. quality vs. quantity. plus, you'll be a crack shot whereas his mode is decidely melee. better to remain well rounded than focus on any one specific aspect too much. |

"Placing your attacks better". Hitting smarter, not harder. Which then opens the (reasonable) argument that it should be precision damage, even if precision damage's worth fairly negatively correlates to level gain (and thus more dex gain). |
| SquibThePirate12-28-07, 03:49 AM | Deadeye feat. Exact same thing as weapon finesse except it does it for damage. |
| OpakeDragon12-28-07, 10:40 AM | Deadeye feat. Exact same thing as weapon finesse except it does it for damage. Where is deadeye? I can only find the deadeye shot which is nothing like it. |
| Adonis1x2303-25-08, 06:18 PM | Deadeye only works on ranged weapons. |
| Orenmir03-25-08, 06:25 PM | Deadeye feat. Exact same thing as weapon finesse except it does it for damage. Source? |
| Dheran03-25-08, 09:45 PM | Crossbow Sniper (Players Handbook II) lets you add half your DEX bonus to damage. It only works with crossbows, naturally. |
| Optimator03-26-08, 01:24 AM | "Placing your attacks better". Hitting smarter, not harder. Isn't hitting smarter, not harder, reflected by a higher BAB? |
| StruckingFuggle03-26-08, 01:49 AM | "It's one possible way", and "to an extent". |
| Optimator03-26-08, 01:57 AM | I guess the "Extra Finesse" would be like going above and beyond with the "smarter, not harder" emphasis. |
