You can cooperatively craft things and have the other crafter be the primary and thus paying the XP.

The dedicated wright homunculus substantially cuts down on personal time investment.

The Autoscribe (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cw/20070326a) helps with time investment for scrolls.
