| Hobo_Jo02-26-07, 07:47 PM | other than mantis leap (think thats what its called) from the sword and fist, are there any other attacks/feats that boost the amount of damage you do if you jump? If so what books are they in? |
| Darth Sephiroth02-26-07, 07:52 PM | there is battle jump which lets you jump as part of a charge. There is also the fighting style that involves dropping on your enemy so if you can jump high enough... |
| Hobo_Jo02-26-07, 08:05 PM | what book is the battle jump in? |
| Artector02-26-07, 08:08 PM | There's several Manuevers in Tome of Battle that let you jump and attack. |
| Hobo_Jo02-26-07, 08:10 PM | dam i dont have that book, could you tell me basically what the best amnuevers are, if its not to long? |
| Aminvelos02-27-07, 09:10 AM | You can actually download all the manuever cards from the wizard site in a pdf format. Which manuevers are the best are open to interpretation but if you intend on using jumps I'd say tiger claw/diamond mine styles are what u want to look at. That's pdf 3 and 8 on full color vers. |
| MegumiAmano02-27-07, 10:35 AM | there is battle jump which lets you jump as part of a charge. There is also the fighting style that involves dropping on your enemy so if you can jump high enough... Leap Attack (Complete Adventurer) lets you combine a jump with a charge for extra damage from power attack. Battle Jump is a regional feat from Unapproachable East that let's you treat any fall from 5' - 30' as a charge. You can either double your weapon or unarmed damage or make a trip attempt with some bonuses involved. |
| demi d2002-27-07, 11:31 AM | Check out this feat I created, based on jump attacks in Soul Caliber and martial arts movies. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=795755 |
| Hobo_Jo02-27-07, 03:41 PM | The attacks form the tome of battle require you to be a certain class. |
| Hobo_Jo03-01-07, 08:48 PM | for the power attack feat, when it says trade your attack bonus for damage, does that mean your base attack bonus or your base attack bonus + your modifier (usually strength)? |
| FrostHammer03-01-07, 09:00 PM | Just your plain BAB. Your BAB never changes unless you level. |
| 1hitparry03-01-07, 09:08 PM | You don't trade so much as take a penalty up to your BAB. If you have both Power Attack and Combat Expertise, you can max both for up to a -5 attack penalty plus other related modifiers other than BAB. |
| Hobo_Jo03-01-07, 09:17 PM | thats what i figured, but i didnt want to cheat myself by miss understanding it.:) |
| 1hitparry03-01-07, 09:20 PM | It might as well be trading though. It's easier (for me at least) to think about it that way, and I've only given myself a negitive modifier to attack once, so the whole negative penalty thing doesn't come up a lot. |
| Tempest Stormwind03-01-07, 09:39 PM | The attacks form the tome of battle require you to be a certain class. Wrong, actually. You can learn up to three of the maneuvers through feats (or PrC levels), and an unlimited number of the stances from other feats. The ToB is VERY multiclass-friendly. |
| Hobo_Jo03-04-07, 03:22 PM | it says the prerequissetes (dont know how to spell) are that u have to be a certain class also im not looking to multi class |
| Tempest Stormwind03-04-07, 03:30 PM | it says the prerequissetes (dont know how to spell) are that u have to be a certain class also im not looking to multi class My eyes, they bleed. Lern2spelplzkthksbai. (Look, the word 'prerequisites' is RIGHT THERE on the page...) Let me spell this out for you. You do not need to multiclass to learn martial maneuvers. You do not need to be a specific class to learn martial maneuvers. You can take Martial Study to learn a maneuver you meet the initiator level requirements and prerequisites for. The initiator level requirement is easy (take half your level and look at Table 3:1 in the Tome of Battle; if you don't have that book, then look at the highest level spell a wizard of half your level could cast. That's the highest level maneuver you can learn). The prerequisites are always "X Tiger Claw maneuvers" in this case. You could take Martial Study (Claw at the Moon) at level 6 in any class and learn Claw at the Moon, for instance. Then, since you know one Tiger Claw maneuver, you can use another Martial Study feat to learn any Tiger Claw maneuver that says "One Tiger Claw maneuver" as its prerequisite, provided it's low enough level for you to manage. This then qualifies you for anything that says "two Tiger Claw maneuvers" and so on and so forth. |
| Hobo_Jo03-04-07, 05:20 PM | sorry, i understand know, it was just that the few i looked at required a certain class. Know i feel like a moron.... |
| Tempest Stormwind03-04-07, 06:23 PM | sorry, i understand know, it was just that the few i looked at required a certain class. Know i feel like a moron.... Even the few you looked at didn't require a certain class. They do list something like "Swordsage 2, Warblade 2", but that only applies to learning maneuvers by gaining levels in those classes. Martial Study is a feat that specifically bypasses this, so a warblade can learn a Desert Wind maneuver (warblades don't normally have access to Desert Wind) and a fighter can learn a Tiger Claw maneuver (they don't normally have access to it in any case). Martial Study is even a fighter bonus feat, by the way. |
