04-26-08, 03:36 PM Alright, Im making a (warforged scout) Monk for an upcoming campaign, and something has me stumped- Ki blast.

Not the most powerful of ranged attacks, but not horrid as its got a decent damage and its a force effect. As its for a ranged secondairy weapon I think I can make good use of it. The problem is- how the heck do I get it?

In the origional feat it says that you can take it as an 8th level bonus feat if you took fiery fist at second level... well thats cool- what 8th level bonus feat?

The errata didnt help at all... it says i can take it at 6th level, should I choose, but only if I can pull of a BAB of +6. *blinks* how can I do that as a monk? I cant even do that as monk-2/fighter-4.

Any help on this one?

04-26-08, 05:20 PM Well, if you don't get an 8th level bonus feat, you can't take Ki Blast as your 8th level bonus feat. If there's no errata on it, that seems to be the way to look at it, I guess?

Monk Bonus feats can be taken without prereqs: that is why the Monk gets Stunning fist as a bonus feat, but can't qualify normally.

I mean, did you never notice that Stunning Fist has a big BAB requirement.

04-26-08, 05:43 PM A monk gets bonuse feats at monk levels 1, 2, and 6. It is most likly a typeo that has not been fixxed. Ever who wrote this feat did not do a good job, or did not look at the monk class very closely. I would say both. I would say that since you could take it at as a monk feat and there is not a level 8 monk feat you could take it as your level 6 monk feat as long as you took Fiery Fist as your level two monk feat and Stunning Fist as your level 1 monk feat. At least that is how I would call it when I am the DM.

The writer just do not earn their pay when they wrote the Special part of this feat.

04-26-08, 08:01 PM Its not uber powerful, but it could be a nice little variety... If you into spending 3 feats for it.

04-27-08, 10:37 AM A side note: If you're using the Red Avenger PrC from Sword & Fist, you will at 10th level be able to use double your Wisdom modifier to the damage bonus of Ki Blast, as it is an effect that uses Ki.

From the errata file :Page 80 –Ki Blast [Substitution]
Replace the second sentence of the “Special section with the following text: “A monk with the Stunning Fist feat can select Ki Blast as her bonus feat at 6th level, as long as she also possesses the Fiery Fist feat and an attack bonus of +6 (other prerequisites can be ignored).The +6 BAB requirement is retained.

The earliest any character can take this is thus 8th level.
