You know, I've played two monks. I've DM'd as often as I've played. 3.5, core rules only.

And in all that time, I have never once even seen a single creature that has DR x/law.

What is this power supposed to be for?

Try a Slaad. (I think you meant DR X/Law, and not Spell Resistance X/Law, that is something that doesn't exist)

Yeah, I did mean DR; one of my few typoes. How embarassing, I'll have to fix that...

Slaad huh? That's one I've never seen, since I don't own the MM. It's one of the copyrighted monsters, it's not in the SRD. I've only ever owned the PHB and the DMG.

Thanks for one answer.

Aren't there several powerful fey creatures with DR/Cold Iron and Law?

Generally, DR/Lawful is found on chaotic neutral outsiders, or at least those close enough to chaotic neutral to not get tagged with DR/Good or DR/Evil instead.

I don't know offhand if there are any fey with it, though. For the most part DR/alignment is found in outsider-type creatures.

Yes. It seems funny that the good-evil part seems to weigh more heaviliy (at least in terms of game mechanics) than the law-chaos part. I've noticed this too.

Slaad are the only ones I can think of for sure. I'm also unsure about the fey, but they are certainly the second place I would look.

Also, Slaad are the only race that I can think of off-hand that are resistant/immune to sonic damage. They're a wierd race in general.

Titans have DR 15/lawful, but I can see why you might not have encountered them very often.

Titans, Slaadi, (MM)

Obyrith (subtype of demon), NPC's with Abyssal Heritor Feats.

Mantle of Faith for a CN Diety (5/Lawful).

Chaos Dragons! (and a few other planar dragons)

There are a few other random things, but most of them don't come up in campaigns. In fact, most of the time the law-chaos axis doesn't come up. However, if you are a LG monk, and you are allowed to take Exalted feats, having Ki Strike Lawful is the pre-requisite for Holy Ki Strike feat (giving you Ki Strike good and bonuses against evil creatures). Which is more likely to come up.

Anyway, if it's not very useful, that shouldn't be a big deal. It's like the Druid's ability to wildshape into plants. There aren't a lot of good uses for the ability, but it makes sense and the class has a lot of other great abilities.

The ability shows up quite a few times in the Druid Handbook. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=465005)

Actually, this thread has inspired me. Thank you all.

I have a "date" with my DM. This is my character, I'm the player.

I haven't had a challenge in a while.

I'm going to see if I can best a Titan, tête-à-tête, mano a mano.

We have not honestly decided if it's going to be a "real" adventure or not, at this moment. But to be honest, looking at my abilities and it's, I think I can beat one. Barely.

We'll decide if it's to be a real adventure before-hand; I'm 20th level (9th Fighter/11th Monk), and it's 21 CR... it's tempting.

The only thing I am really worried about, is that if I'm right, and I've got at least a 50/50-shot of beating it, is that I have absolutely no way of keeping it from teleporting away.

If it does that, do I get experience for a "win"? Or is it not a defeat, just an encounter? Or some percentage? (Look at me, damn I'm confident...)

I've been looking for a fight like this for my entire career. I'd not really mind "going down" this way, actually... We don't play epic levels, and why not go out with a killer story? *smirk*
