| danste0110-24-07, 02:54 PM | If you were a knight(human) of 9 lvl. What feat would you take? (knight ph2, not a paladin) |
| Garonak10-24-07, 03:56 PM | It would be helpful to know which feats you already got... Shield Spec (Heavy) - +1 ac Shield Ward - Shield ac on touch attacks and other stuff Heavy Armor Optimization (Races of Stone) - +1ac, -1 acp Greater H. A. Opt. (RoS) - +1 ac, -2 acp (total +2ac, -3 acp) |
| danste0110-24-07, 04:12 PM | It's for my friend who is joinning our group. A new player. I'm a bard 9 lvl. |
| Salla10-24-07, 04:15 PM | It's for my friend who is joinning our group. A new player. I'm a bard 9 lvl. Nonetheless, it's going to be hard for us to recommend a 9th level feat without knowing what his previous feats are, to avoid repetition and to know what prerequisites he has. :) |
| Dissont10-24-07, 04:40 PM | Post his stats, skills, and abilities and We can help ya out with makeing him a good knight. |

(RoS) - +1 ac, -2 acp (total +2ac, -3 acp) those are all feats i usually recomend to knights. Makes a fairly good generic high AC knight. |
| danste0110-24-07, 09:02 PM | What is the best: Feat that concentrate on AC or feat that concentrate on attack for the knight? The last time I play a knight it was in the first edition(long time ago). |
| StruckingFuggle10-24-07, 09:19 PM | Why would you take Heavy Armor Optimization over Tower Shield Prof? |
| squigington10-24-07, 09:36 PM | improved trip and a pole arm are a good combination for a knight, AC is less great for a knight given you should have massive hit points, a tower shield would probably be better. EDIT: I know you can't do both of what i suggest but one or the other is a good way to go depending on if you want to improve offense or defense. |
| danste0110-24-07, 10:36 PM | What class would you choose: a paladin or a knight? |
| squigington10-24-07, 11:08 PM | A paladin is certainly easier to play well, the knight is very difficult to optimize and a lot of your abillitys aren't great, if you're not into hardcore optimization you really have to look at the knight as a fighter with d12 hit dice and a good will save... that being said I'd play a knight (and do) because i don't like the flavor of a paly... have you looked at the crusader from the tomb of battle? I've never played one but i've heard they're good for the knight style of character... |
| Krusk10-26-07, 02:06 AM | 1- i would take AC over attacks as a knight. Will a full BAB and a decent X weapon you shouldn't be missing too often, and your main goal is to survive while people are all forced to attack you. 2-Heavy armor optimisation over towershield, because I personally never thought tower shields penalties outweighed the benefits. I would recomend the extreme steel shield from races of stone over it if your spending the feat for it. Even still i say armor optimisation. 3- i would play a knight, because i prefer their looser code of conduct, and i would rather have cool abilities- knights challenge- than spells that i have to then take a variant to get rid of. |

The shields provide more AC for the cost of a feat, and you said take AC over attacks. This is a contradiction, mister! /PhoenixWright |
| Garonak10-26-07, 06:56 AM | Heavy Armor Opt does more than just increasing AC, it also reduces ACP, which is useful when you start putting ranks in to tumble, as Knights can tumble in heavy armor at lvl 9 (Armor Mastery (Heavy)). |
| Drinkie10-26-07, 04:14 PM | I'd take Agile Shield Fighter, prereqs: Sheild Specialiation and Imp. Shield Bash. It basically lets you two-weapon-fighting with a shield and main hand weapon and still keep the shield's AC. |

Thats why it is diffrent. A tower shield gives a nice -tons penalty to your swim, climb, dex checks. I like armor opt because it means that in the off chance i fall in a hole/lake/spiked pit i do not simply die. The shield provieds slightly more AC, lets look at the 2 both using a character in full plate tower shield+ shield specialization- 13AC +1 max dex -16armor check greater+normal armor optimization- +10 AC +1max dex and -3 armor check. You spend the same ammount of feats, yes your gonna have 3 less AC, but you are also gaining a bonus of 13 to your armor check penalty. Thats huge if you hope to ever do anything. now lets say its mithril full plate, and the benefits are even better. 13Ac +2 max dex -13 armor check vs 10AC +3 max dex and -0 armor check penalty. A net diffrence of 2 ac, provided youve got a decent dex. And no armor check penalty. That is a huge huge bonus. I think i left that vauge enough about the feats and equipment not to go against the CoC, if it still does feel free to edit/delete it mods or PM me and ill edit/delete it. Not my intention. |
