| Migi09-29-07, 06:45 PM | I was hoping someone who has played with this feat could offer their opinion on it. Does deciding what knowledge checks need to be made and making the rolls slow down the game much? I don't want to annoy the other players in my game by bogging things down with debates over what checks to make, etc. Also, has anyone compiled a list of which knowledge checks cover which monsters? I'd love to print it out and keep it with me at the game table for fast reference. Thank you, Migi |

As for categories: Knowledge (Arcana): Dragons, Magical Beasts, Constructs Knowledge (Dungeoneering): Abberations, Oozes Knowledge (Nature): Animals, Plants, Fey, Giants, Monstrous Humanoids Knowledge (Religion): Undead Knowledge (The PLanes): Outsiders and Elementals |

The Devotion feats in Complete Champion do not require you to be a Cleric to select them; in fact, most of them do not have any prerequisites whatsoever. Knowledge Devotion only has a single skill requirement. Also, has anyone compiled a list of which knowledge checks cover which monsters? I'd love to print it out and keep it with me at the game table for fast reference. Knowledge (Arcana): Dragons, Magical Beasts, Constructs Knowledge (Dungeoneering): Abberations, Oozes Knowledge (Nature): Animals, Plants, Fey, Giants, Monstrous Humanoids, Vermin Knowledge (Religion): Undead Knowledge (The PLanes): Outsiders and Elementals Fixed it for ya. Thank you, Migi You're welcome! |
| FoulQ09-30-07, 12:20 AM | Glad to see the knowledge skill has been degraded to identifying monsters. |
| JulesCARV09-30-07, 12:36 AM | Glad to see the knowledge skill has been degraded to identifying monsters. Untrue! They're also used for synergy bonuses! |
| zeratulcraft09-30-07, 01:06 AM | You forgot Knowledge (Local) being used for Humanoids such as Elves and Humans and the like. |
| Jaxgaret09-30-07, 01:05 PM | Glad to see the knowledge skill has been degraded to identifying monsters. Er, that's one of its by-the-book uses - how is that degrading it? |
| Zippis10-01-07, 09:59 AM | You forgot Knowledge (Local) being used for Humanoids such as Elves and Humans and the like. Have to say that using Knowledge (Local) for combat bonuses in every battle with humanoids anywhere, regardless you see them or even hear about them before or not, seems so stupid for me ... and not just once per day as any other DOMAIN feat in Complete Champion ... ugly ... but I understand they wanted some benefits for Fighter/Wizards with high Int. |

In Faerun, Knowledge (Local) is split up into separate regions, so you would have to have ranks in the specific Knowledge (Local: Region) to benefit from the Knowledge Devotion feat vs. Humanoids. You could adopt a similar stance in your campaigns. |
| Puca10-01-07, 12:13 PM | I am playing a character with the Knowledge Devotion feat now. At my level, I usually get a +1. With a bit of luck, Ive hit some +2s. I was hoping someone who has played with this feat could offer their opinion on it.I like it. Does deciding what knowledge checks need to be made and making the rolls slow down the game much? No. Typically, I know (as a player) what I am facing, at least down to the type. If I have the right skill, I roll my die. When I dont know what Im facing, I roll the die anyway, because I want to know. I don't want to annoy the other players in my game by bogging things down with debates over what checks to make, etc. This will never happen, at least it shouldnt. As others have pointed out, which skills cover which creature types is all covered. If it says it is an aberration, and you have dungeoneer, you make the check. Now, if your group or DM are the type to question why every single creature is typed as it is or why the particular knowledge skill covered that type, then, yeah, youll get bogged down. But you probably already are on some other issue. Otherwise, it is a single die roll and you can make it with your initiative roll. Easy. |
