I'm creating a character who uses the knowledge skills extensively. I'm looking for feats or other character options that might help. All books are available.

You want the Knowledge Devotion feat from CChp.

Bonuses to attacks for every creature type you have a knowledge skill for. The size of the bonus depends on the check.

Archivist, from Heroes of Horror. Divine caster with a spellbook, intense user of knowledge skills for boosts.

The book is great, too!

bard/loremaster. without having to go out and buy tons of useless books its a master of knowledge skills, and obscure lore checks.

mind you, knowing things is about all youll be good for (besides some secondary spellcasting), but if that kind of stuff is worth something in your game you'll be priceless

All Knowledge skills are trained only, so start by making sure they're all class skills for you. A Factotum, a Human Paragon, and a Cleric with the Knowledge domain (which the Cloistered Cleric variant automatically gets) all have all the Knowledge skills as class skills. Then put ranks into every one of these skills.

Do you realize that a 20th level human Wizard with 30+ INT can't distinguish the various humanoids (can't tell a human from an elf, for instance) without putting at least 1 rank into Knowledge: Local? The DC to make this distinction is 10 + the # of HD of the humanoid character, and you can't make a check with a DC above 10 untrained. It's right in the rules. In many cases, you can use this skill to identify monsters and their special powers or vulnerabilities. In general, the DC of such a check equals 10 + the monster’s HD. "Humanoids" are the monsters identifiable with a Knowledge: Local check.

In many cases, you can use this skill to identify monsters and their special powers or vulnerabilities. In general, the DC of such a check equals 10 + the monster’s HD. In general, but things that are considered "common knowledge" would still have a DC of less than 10. If there are elves around, I'd think it pretty reasonable to consider the distinction between them and humans as common knowledge. Probably a DC of 1 if they are common enough.

DC 11 means that Joe Schmoe off the street would know about half the time. Sounds about right to me; normal people are a lot stupider than we give them credit for.
