Well, the game i am in right now has been going pretty well i guess (being a big metal monk), but i can't shake the fact that i'm just not doing as well as i thought i would be.

Being a Large sized character is cool but having a +2 LA is killing me at low levels, so here's the deal:

I am looking to possibly re-write my character (he'd still only be level 1) but i wanna do a more combat orientated melee fellow, so i was wondering if anyone had any cool feat suggestions or even class suggestions.

My personaly first thought was EWP (Spiked Chain) simply because of the awesome range and two-handed-ness-ness, but are their any other ideas that might be cool?

I've been wanting to try a sword and board for a while. Take Improved shield bash and get 2 weapon fighting, takes pretty decent scores and a lot of feats.

But I could be more inventive if I knew what resources were available to you.

Well, i have quite a few "complete" books and 3.0 stuff can be aloud if i run it by him and he gives the ok. Basically this is the Large Sized Warforged that i have in my sig:

we were given:
16,16,14,14,12,12 for stats

my racial modifiers are:
+6 Str
-2 Dex
+2 Con
-2 Wis
-2 Cha

and like i said, warforged, so warforged feats and such can be used

Anybody got any ideas for an awesome big character?

The feat Large and in Charge from Sword and Fist is a must for any Large-sized melee combatant. Keep the pests away from you, and keep the casters close to you! Combine it with Combat Reflexes and things start to get comical.

I don't see that feat in my copy of Sword and Fist.

+2 La hurts almost too much. With the high strength you could be one nasty archer. IF you are actually large sized the Spiked chain is a pretty viable choice for you, you can stand back from 20 feet away and knock enemies down quite easily.

The simplest method may be to raise CON (for survivability) and keep STR high, then be a barbarian who doesn't care about getting hurt.

But I personally think anything over LA +1 tends to be unplayable.
