If a character has a cohort from the Leadership Feat, gains a negative level, and it sticks(she fails her save 24 hours later), by the RAW, does anything happen to the cohort? Does the cohort lose a level, or does the character lose that cohort and attract another, since the cohort cannot be more than two levels lower than the character.(Barring a feat from,I think, Tome of Battle.)

First of all
Negative levels ISN'T a level loss. If you're a 10th level character and you have 2 negative levels you're still a 10th level character until you fail your save

Second
The DMG report what happens when you lose a level and you've a cohort.
1) Your cohort do not gain ANY XP until you won't be at least two level higher than him.
2) If, in any moment, the XP that you're giving to a cohort make it level up and become only 1 level less than the leader, you'll stop the cohort to "1 xp under the needed to level up" stopping giving it XP. When the leader will level up, the cohort will gain his share of XP and level up it too

The cohort goes emo and loses a level.
"OH NO! My IDOL is weak, life is horrible!" *cuts self and drains (a) level(s)*

Your character becomes the cohort, and is now considered an npc under the ex-cohort's control. Roll another character.
