Okay, just had a bit of a question about Leadership. With the Leadership feat, do the followers have NPC classes or pc classes? I had always believed the former, but recently read a 3.5 Dragon magazine article discussing it, and they said that followers can have player classes. Which one is true? And I know about the things they put in the Epic Level Handbook, but would prefer a 3.5 answer, if one is available.

In 3.0 there was a rule that said Followers had to have only NPC classes.

They removed that rule in 3.5, but did not expressely say "followers can have any classes" in the core books.

But Sage responses and other articles have demonstrated that yes, followers can take PC classes.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't a rule, but an optional rule.

The optional rule for the leadership feat is pretty pointless, imo, if the followers are all completely junk. You can't run a thieves guild with 40+ commoners.

Okay, thanks. I had noticed that the rule hadn't appeared, and was just wondering. This makes it a lot easier, since I can actually have a boot camp of fighters and paladins now.

By the way, of course you're going to have a problem running a thieves guild of all commoners. That's why you use warriors and experts.
