Does anyone have the official correction to this spell? What does it actually do and how much does it actually hurt?

Thanks

A more detailed discussion from cust serve:

How does the Legion of Sentinels spell work? Is the short description accurate that they do 1d8 +1/three caster levels damage? Is this damage affected by damage reduction? What is the attack bonus? Can the swordsmen make regular attacks or only attacks of opportunity?

The swordsmen’s attacks are at a bonus equal to your caster level, they threaten critical hits on a 19 or 20, and they deal 1d8 points of slashing damage +1 per three caster levels (max +5). They only make attacks of opportunity, and their weapon damage is slashing and is affected by damage reduction.

Base attack doesn't matter since the spell says they don't attack, they merely make attacks of opportunity. The spell description itself says that it makes rolls at a bonus equal to your caster level (AFB, can't give you exact wording). Thus, a 5th level caster's sentinels have 10 HP, +5 on saves, +5 attack (AoOs only) and deal 1d8+1 damage. The only thing the custserv ruling adds to this is that they can score crits at 19-20/x2.

To be fair, Tempest, it's pretty stupid of them to not include the damage of the spell in the spell description. The wording in the description is something to the effect of "all saves and checks are made at the spell's caster level." or something like that.

"saves and checks" is not indicative of "attack rolls". To me that means skill checks, ability checks, or even opposed checks.

All in all, they F*cked up that spell in the book and it's no wonder people ask about it on the forums.

Yeah, I do not know why people just assume that because they get AOOs that they can attack, it is nowhere in the description that says they can attack freely, just AOOs, thank you Tempest.
