| Agahi_Renem04-16-08, 02:44 PM | Is there a feat to give you acces to a level 1 divine spell? I ask because a player of mine needs access to first level spells to qualify for contemplative. I would prefer to use a feat for this than a level in cleric, or druid because the rest of the party is very strong, and I dont want him falling behind. RAW is fine, as im the DM, and will rule it is ok, as long as it isnt crazy. |
| LSMFT04-16-08, 03:20 PM | What is the character's class now? |
| war_thog04-16-08, 07:00 PM | Why do you want to go contemplative without being a divine caster? Doesnt the PrC give you bonuses to spell casting? Strikes me as rather redundant. I thought you said you didnt want your PC to fall behind? |
| Beckettvampire04-16-08, 08:13 PM | I think it gives just +1 Spell level, not divine, but counld be wrong. Still, why? Only thing I could see is Domains, but there are better ways to get that. Everyhing else is like 2-4 levels of paladin. |
| narack04-17-08, 07:28 AM | There is a feat that give a domain. I just saw it in the forum somewhere, some people were talking about it. |
| Kouk04-17-08, 11:16 AM | A totally non-caster wants a caster prestige class? Anyway, a feat that gives like a single level 1 spell would probably be OK, with requirements for Wisdom, devotion to a god or ideal etc, and a certain character level. Look at Book of Nine Swords for the feat Martial Study. That is sort of the same thing, allowing someone to just use a feat and learn a single ability. Pretty sure you're going to have to houserule this though. Several feats give minor spell-like abilities, like Read Magic, Detect Magic etc. but I don't think spell-like abilities count normally. EDIT: I checked the Contemplative again, and there are some useful abilities it grants. However, the main part of the class is that it boosts your spellcasting, I would definitely suggest that the character take at least a level of a full-casting class so that the spellcasting abilities can progress. Otherwise, it is like taking half of a prestige class. Possibly Cleric or Favored Soul 1. |
| StevenO04-17-08, 01:59 PM | Nope. Even if there was I don't know why you'd want to take Contemplative. Without an actual divine spellcasting class the spellcasting advancements are worthless and while some of the abilities are interesting they really aren't going to help anyone else. What does the character look like and what would they hope to gain from Contemplative that wouldn't point to a munchkin? |
| Agahi_Renem04-17-08, 02:41 PM | It is the players choice for a class.. I think he just wants the immunities it grants or something. Anyway, I think Im going to reccomend a diffrent route, but thanks for the help anyway. It will probably help in the future. |
