Is there a feat that will give me an AoO after someone misses an attack against me? like a roposte or counterstrike. I though I saw it once ages ago but not sure.

Robilar's Gambit from PHB2.

ouch they get +4 on attacks and damage against me. not worth it.

after a little research I found that there is a agile riposte from v3.0.

Agile Riposte
Prerequisites: Dexterity 13, Dodge.
Benefit: Once per round, if the opponent the character has designated as his or her dodge target (see the Dodge feat) makes a melee attack or melee touch attack against the character and misses, the character may make an attack of opportunity with a melee weapon against that opponent. Resolve and apply the effects from both attacks simultaneously.
Even a character with the Combat Reflexes feat can?t use the Agile Riposte feat more than once per round. This feat does not grant more attacks of opportunity than the character is normally allowed in a round.

is there something like this in V.3.5?

3.0=3.5 except where old feats, skills, spells are changed by 3.5 rewrites. So I would say that feat is perfectly fine. I think there might be one similer to it in comp war or comp adv though. cause overeach or something maybe? I'll be darned if I can find it though.

The Cause Overreach ability you are thinking of darkeness isn't a feat in it's own right, but rather the third of 3 abilities granted by the Tactical Feat: Elusive Target in Complete Warrior. It allows you to make a free trip attempt when a foe you designate your dodge bonus on misses you with an attack of opportunity as you move away.

Elusive Target does this in two ways, you can get an trip attack if someone misses you on their AoE when you move through a threatened area. The second method is if you're flanked, they automatically miss you and have a chance of hitting the opponent behind you. (Obviously it is maximized with Improved Trip, Dodge, Mobility, Combat Expertise, Spring Attack, Combat Reflexes...I can't remember if these are prereqs)

I think defensive throw does this aswell allowing a trip attack for a missed attack if it's your dodge opponent.

One of the fun things you can do with both of these feats is to have your dodge opponent be one of the people flanking you. So they attack and automatically miss, maybe hit the person behind you, then you get a trip attempt after that.

There's a FAq stickyed on the top of this board for this kind of question.:)

By the way, here you are the D&D version of the feat you are searching for:

Type: General
From Dragon #305

You have learned to strike when your opponent is most vulnerable - at the same instant he or she strikes at you.

Prerequisite: Dex 13+, Dodge, Weapon Finesse, base attack +1 or higher.
Benefit: If the opponent you have designated as your Dodge target (see the Dodge feat) misses you with a melee attack or melee touch attack and you are wielding a weapon you have chosen for the Weapon Finesse feat, you may attempt an attack of opportunity against that opponent.
This feat can be used only once per round, even if you are allowed more than one attack of opportunity each round.
Special: A fighter may select Agile Riposte as one of his fighter bonus feats.[/I]

Thanks Rainson_Tempestheart & Crichton, I knew I had seen it somewhere. So which is the "official" version of this feat? 3.0 sourcebook or Dragon (3.5)? As I stated earlier, 3.0 feats or Ok for 3.5 unless they have been updated. Is Dragon (ah, my poor lost Dragon) considered an official source for updates or optional material?

There's no D&D official version except the Dragon's one.

The other is from D20 future.

ouch they get +4 on attacks and damage against me. not worth it. Actually, it is. Robilar's triggers if they *attack* you, meaning you get the AoO regardless of whether or not you get hit. The -4 works to your advantage with Karmic Strike, a much easier to qualify for feat (Complete Warrior) that gives you an AoO whenever someone hits you.

Someone attacks you? Robilar's. They miss? Good. They hit? Karmic. If you have Combat Reflexes and a high Dexterity, that -8 AC isn't going to be as severe as you think, and you'll *still* end up making more attacks against them then they will against you.

This is the basis behind techniques like Jack B. Quick (a CO build that actually manages to get six hits to his opponent's one -- those two feats + Double Strike (MiniHB, use both weapons on an AoO) + High Sword Low Axe (Complete Warrior, hit with both sword and axe, initiate a free trip attack) + Improved Trip form the basis) or the three Molester siblings (Lester (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=9943535&postcount=1), Chester (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10201398&postcount=146), and Tess (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10977016#post10977016), moreso the first two than the last one. These three are AoO DOOMSDAY MACHINES).

to bad the OC didn't say that. I assumed it was from a D&D 3.0 splat book. You know what they say about assume...

Pretty sure everything I brought up was from Complete Adventurer/Warrior and maybe one from Oriental Adventures.
