...allows you to add an energy descriptor to a spell that you cast. Does anyone know of one?

not 'change' the current descriptor, but add one to a spell, even a spell that normally doesn't have an energy descriptor

Only one I'm aware of that isn't limited to a subset of spells or as a class feature would be Snowcasting from Frostburn. Add some snow as a material component, the spell gains the Cold descriptor. (This is often Energy Subbed into other descriptors, but it's not crystal-clear if that's legit or not.)

Energy Admixture, same book. You get +4 levels on casting, but get twice as many hit dice so...

Check out Energy Substitution (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Energy_Substitution,) to change the energy type and Energy Admixture (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Energy_Admixture,) to add types to a spell.

I do not think that is what he is looking for.

I believe he is looking for a feat that would let him make Magic Missiles do fire damage instead of force damage.

I do not know of any.

If we were to design one, it'd probably look _something_ like this:

- When you take this feat, you choose one energy type from the list below and you can apply it's descriptor to damaging spells that do not have an energy descriptor

- You can take this feat more than once, each time choosing a new energy descriptor

- The original spell's level is adjusted according to which energy descriptor you choose when selecting this feat:

Fire +1
Cold +1
Electricity +1
Acid +1
Sonic +2
Force +3

I don't think it'd be overpowered at all to create "Energy Missiles" as a 1st level spell that lets you "unerring strike the target" for the same damage as MM, gets blocked by all spells that'd block MM (e.g., Shield) and is additionally subject to energy resistance: electricity.

You certainly miss out on the spell not being a Force spell, but that's the trade-off it seems.

Hey Tempest:

Can one "eschew materials" fresh snow as a move action before casting the spell to use Snowcasting on it?

IIRC, there's a PrC in a Dragon somewhere that allows you to alter the Energy type of your Magic Missiles.
Force Mage or something like it.

Note that Eschew Materials doesn't require an action.

Force Missile Mage.

Nezkrul, you want the Force Missile Mage. It does *exactly* what you want and then some. (It was, in fact, the class I was thinking of when I mentioned class features in my initial reply.)

I'll dive in to my Dragon Collection right away and try to scoop up the issue.
