Can anyone point me to a feat and the book it can be found in which allows a character to add a class to his/her class skill list?

Cosmopolitan is one from FRCS which is just about right. Unfortuantely it requires a region to be from.

Any others out there?

TIA

Check the races of destiny book. I think there is one in there that lets a human take any skill as a class skill though there might be some more restricitons

I'm assuming when you said "...allows a character to add a class to his/her..." you meant 'skill'.

The Examplar PRC (from Complete Adventurer) might be something you're looking for (alas thats not a feat; but he has "all skills as class skills" as well as absurdly sweet skill class feats). Able Learner (from Races of Destiny) is something that makes all skills only cost 1 point (including cross-class skills; although the maximum rank still applies).

I'll let you know if I find something that fits the exact handle.

Very true. The only downside is that the player must be a Human or Dopleganger (sp?) to be able to qualify to take this feat. It also must be taken at 1st level IIRC. I was recently looking for the same thing, but have not found anything as of yet.

Heroes of Battle has two feats that let you buy Hide/MS or Listen/Spot as in-class, along with a small other benefit. Educated from Ebberon gives you all the Knowledge skills. Able Learner works on all skills that have ever been in-class for you, but is 1st level human only.

This is the kind of benefit you get for a feat. If the skills are powerful, you get two and a bit more. If it is weak, you get a lot. If the feat is hard to get, you get more. Designing more like them would be easy for your DM.

You're looking for one that specifically adds a skill you choose? Education from Eberron Campaign Setting adds all Knowledge skills, but I suspect that's not what you mean.

Edit: Curse you, Willowbreaker! ;)

Also, I vaguely recall a house-rule-type sidebar somewhere in some text (helpful, I know; might've been UA) that said it's reasonable to just allow a character to swap a feat slot for one or two additional, permanent class skills. As a DM, I'd allow that, but it would have to be one of your character feats, not a bonus feat.

Races of Destiny also has City Slicker, which adds a nice chunk of social skills to your skill list.

Oops, yeah I meant "skill" as a class skill.

As for what I am looking for, I have a Wilder with which I would like to take the prestige class Anarchic Initiate. Unfortunately it requires 8 ranks of Knowledge: The Planes, which Wilders dont get as a class skill.

I don't want to take another class or prestige class if I can help it, so I'm looking for feat alternatives.

Thanks for pointing me towards some to review.

If you're past 1st level, Eberron's Education won't help you, unfortunately. There's the Draconic feat Draconic Knowledge, but you'd need to take two other feats to get access to it, which is hardly worthwhile.

I'd say the afore-mentioned example might be your best bet (from a non-DnD guru's brain), assuming you have 6 ranks in Diplomacy and Skill Focus (Concentration). First level you get 8 + Int. Bonus to sink into whatever you want, but you can also get skill mastery (always take 10 on a number of skills equal to 1 + Int. Mod) for your casting defensively (and whatever extra skills your int bonus grants you).

Alternatively you can try another class, but I fear a dip is the only thing that'll help you here.

If you're still willing to spend that feat, a psionic version of Practiced Spellcaster (is there a published Practiced Manifester?) could at least cover one level's worth of caster level loss, but it won't help you with power selection or PSPs.

jack-of-all-trades allows you to use cross class skills even "trained only" but you need int 13 for it. complete adventure. pg 104.

Or you could use this one:

Depending on the skill, Martial Study (Tome of Battle) might be able to do it. That feat gives you a maneuver once per battle and adds a skill to all your class' lists. However, it's limited to Tumble, Intimidate, Concentration, Balance, Sense Motive, Hide, Jump, or Diplomacy.

Flexible Mind, from Dragon 326, allows you to add two skills that you have ranks in to your class-skills list. It has a requirement of Alignment: Chaotic, but your Wilder is Chaotic, right? ;) It also has some additional effects.

As far as I can tell, no one mentioned it yet, but you could just use this (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/buildingCharacters/alternativeSkillSystems.htm#skillKnowled ge) feat which does exactly what you are looking for. And yes, it is found in Unearthed Arcana.

And yes, it is found in Unearthed Arcana.
And yes it only applies when using the drastically different variant above it, in which you don't have skill ranks at all.

I see your point, but I also interpret the wording of the feat to imply it could work just as eaily with the normal skill system. Basically I don't see why it wouldn't work with the normal skill system, and why it needs to be dependant upon this varient system. Honestly, would a feat to turn one cross-class skill into a class skill be broken, I certainly don't think so.

After taking a look and discussing it with the DM, we both agreed that SKill Knowledge would work well enough. With enough other feats out there providing similar bonuses, with caveats (level 1, regional, etc) it seemed about right.

In addition, Anarchic Initiate's prereq is sort of rediculous anyway... it's pretty much intended for Wilders to take it, yet you have to multi-class or search for another way to get 8 ranks in a skill, a knowledge skill no less.

So a feat to make it possible seemed reasonable.

Thanks for all the responses.

Anarchic Initiate is held by the psi boards to be broken in both senses of the term.

It is, as you say, obviously designed for wilders... yet wilders can't actually qualify until about level 13. Even the sample NPC is incorrect.

It's easier to qualify as a psion... and for a psion, the full-manifesting progression (unheard of in a psionic PrC), plus class features that make the wilder obsolete (note how Psychic Enervation is based off of WILDER LEVEL, which is 0 for a psion), plus easy, EASY (trivial, even) requirements add up to form something overpowered. (Note: They'd be fine on a wilder, though.)

It's either unusable or overpowered -- pretty much the definition of broken.

The easy fix? Remove the optional overchannel requirement and cut the Knowledge (The Planes) requirement in half.

A broken prestige class from a WotC book? NO!

Yeah I realized that when I first read the class. I happen to have a character who is pretty much the incarnation of chaos Wilder. So the prestige class makes sense, even if she's not able to take the class "normally".

So I was looking for every possibility and decided multi-classing wasn't something she'd want to do. So it came down to spending a feat.

Does it have to be WotC? How's your DM feel about stuff from the boards? I've been posting a bunch of feats to gain some skills here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=817143), those don't have what you're looking for yet... but if your DM would allow it, I could all too easily throw one together for Knowledge (The Planes) to grant it as a class skill, probably along with one or two other skills. Although it's too bad you missed out on Education due to level, it's a lovely feat.
