Greetings all-

I have been trying to find out if the damage modifier a character with Power Attack takes is doubled, tripled, etc. if that character scores a successful crit while using the feat.

I have read in the PHB and DMG that damage modifiers from sources such as sneak attack and magic (i.e. flaming property of a weapon) do not get multiplied for a crit, but does the damager from the Power Attack feat?

If so....can someone tell me where this is stated?

Thanks

Extra dice are not multiplied. All other damage is.

Does Power Attack add extra dice to the damage you roll?

...

No. It doesn't. So the damage from Power Attack is multiplied.

In the same section you were looking in. In the PHB, in the combat section, under damage, it states that Tordek uses a greataxe and gets a critical. His strength is 16 so his damage bonus using a two-handed weapon is +4. So normally he gets 1d12+4, but with the critical, he gets 3d12+12.

It's right there. I just think you got confused with the whole sneak attack, magic property, extra dice thing. The designers wanted to include crits in some fashion, but with the easier rules about making magic items, they didn't want every one making 100 hp damage hits. So they limited the multipliers to just the non-extra dice types of damage.

As Ejo said.

Flat bonuses to damage (from high Strength, a +1 etc. weapon, Power Attacking, and whatever else might give it) always get multiplied on a critical hit. Damage from extra dice (like Sneak Attack, a Flaming weapon, etc) is not. I don't know of any exceptions, but WotC being WotC, I'm sure there are one or two at least.

I believe there's a feat which allows Rogues to multiply their sneak attack on a crit. That would be the exception.

There are psuedo-exceptions. There are cases which seem like exceptions, but with closer examination turn out to be something completely different. Flaming/Icy Burst weapons, and Spirit Charge, for example.
