Looking for good Marshal feats [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-15-07, 03:45 PM Don't laugh, I'm just rying it out, but I was wondering if there are any feats that are particularly handy for Marshals.

06-15-07, 04:31 PM The *only* feats that have ever been published to support what the marshal does are the draconic aura feats in Dragon Magic, and those really aren't that hot (since major auras tend to suck due to the terrible way the marshal's written).

If you're using a better marshal (like the one in my sig), your options are a broader.

There are other options a marshal might want to look into (Battlefield Inspiration (MiniHB), for instance), but in general, for the MiniHB marshal, they suck too much at being warriors to consider warrior feats, and they don't use a common method of support so their support-boosting abilities are limited, and they don't have enough skills to use traditional skillmonkey feats.

Marshal is most often taken as a dip. One level for Diplomacy builds (Free +4+Cha on all Diplomacy checks!), two through five if you're in Living Greyhawk. If you're doing this, your auras are *always* Motivate Charisma, Motivate Urgency, Motivate Dexterity, (Either Master of Tactics or Over the Top in high-melee groups, or Determined Caster in high-caster groups), and another major aura (typically, but not always, Hardy Soldiers or Resilient Troops).

06-15-07, 11:18 PM Leadership is a powerful choice for a Marshal. Consider taking a Scout as a cohort since the ability to grant a move action makes them intensely devistating.

Also there are several nice feats in one of the dragon mags.

I ran a marshal once. For me feats, I took Force of Personality, Daunting Presence, Leadership, and later Frighful Presence. I also wasted a feat on EWP Bastard Sword. I regret that. It was unnecesarry. But Daunting Presence/Frightful Presence is great, and leadership is AWESOME for a marshal. I set myself up as a wall, and I had a row of archers firing from behind me.

But they really shine at becoming nobility. One of the odd class combinations that works rather well in a Gestault game is a Marshal/Noble because you can easily manipulate everyone you need.
