| MOTHdevil12-03-07, 06:08 PM | Howdy all- Is anyone aware of a feat that allows you to forgo damage (or something similar) in trade for temporarily lowering an opponent's AC? I'm looking for something similar to the alternate Rogue ability in PHB2 that trades sneak attack damage in place of imposing a -5 AC penalty for one round... Specifically, I'm looking for something that could potentially stack with that and drive the penalty up further. Does anyone know of anything like this? |
| Fireclave12-03-07, 06:18 PM | Improved Trip and Improved Sunder (vs shields) come to mind, but I'm away from books atm. |
| Rebel728412-03-07, 09:59 PM | Ray of clumsiness drops the target's Dex. That can bump AC down a notch. Rogues do get UMD as a class skill too. :) |
| Rolof12-04-07, 03:55 AM | [-5 AC ranged] There's a spell called Curse of arrow attraction. [+2 to hit] Flank. Your buddy gets a plus to hit, in essence lowers target AC. [-2 AC AND dex bonus] Blind them. I forget the name of it, but there's also a feat out there somewhere that let's you ignore 5 points of damage reduction of any kind, not exactly what you asked for, but greatly useful in the right circumstances. |

| RobbyPants12-04-07, 11:05 AM | The Complete Soundrel has several ambush feats that allow you to trade some sneak attack damage for some extra effect. I haven't seen any that hurt a target's AC, however. The closest thing I can find is Eldritch Erosion which lowers the targert's Spell and Power Resistance by 5. Oh well. It looks like Fireclave found what you want anyway. ;) |
| MongooseFamiliar12-04-07, 04:48 PM | I'm not sure this is quite what you have in mind, but there is a Domain Feat in the Complete Champion for the Destruction Domain that lets the user reduce armor rating with every melee attack for one minute a pop. It works on natural armor or regular armor, won't go below +0, though. |
| BananaB12-04-07, 06:49 PM | The Deft Strike feat in Complete Adventurer allows you to make a spot check against an enemies AC. If your check is higher then their AC then you can ignore all armour and natural armour bonuses on there AC. With my rogue and this feat there was no one i couldn't hit :P |
| Dheran12-04-07, 10:12 PM | Damaging or penalizing the target's DEX is a good way to lower their AC. Shivering Touch (Frostburn) is the best known of these, for a short term reduction, but Poison Needles (Complete Arcane) is (potentially) even more effective and does long-term damage. Stack these together with Ray of Clumsiness (Spell Compendium) and you've either paralyzed your enemy or at least dropped their AC dramatically. |
| kuonji12-05-07, 07:12 AM | Use Suggestion to convince them that their armor is uncomfortable and taking it off will make them feel better. |
| Nebo12-05-07, 08:34 AM | Curse of Impending Blades from PHBII gives a -2 penalty to AC, no save. |
| 1 ton ghost12-06-07, 12:57 PM | -forcing Dex bonus loss: Feinting in combat, forcing them into bad terrain/movement (climbing, balancing, etc.), attack while they're grappled, blind -Tanglefoot Bag -Bullrush them out of tree squares or anthing else providing cover -armor vs. time/rest: attack during camp (can't sleep in med. or heavy armor), though you can in med. w/ Endurance [feat]) -attacking while enemy is running (Dex loss or Flat-footed, can't remember which) |
