| happydude05-11-07, 06:19 PM | Just curious what people think of the Luck of Heroes feat in the Players Guide to Faerun? Would it be decent for a halfling rogue? |
| Zardnaar05-11-07, 06:55 PM | Its a good feat. As a rogue at lvl one I would prefer improved initiative but its a regional feat so you need it now or never I suppose. |
| CaoSlayer05-11-07, 07:10 PM | This feat is famous for making the regular halfling race useless. Just take a strongheart halfling and spend the bonus feat for luck of heroes and you will have an improved regular halfling with an extra AC. |
| TheCobra05-11-07, 07:15 PM | Except that regular halflings get a racial bonus on saves, not a luck bonus. At higher levels, at +1 luck bonus to saves can be pretty useless. At low levels, though, it does rock. |

Just take a strongheart halfling and spend the bonus feat for luck of heroes and you will have an improved regular halfling with an extra AC. In Races of Faerun I didn't notice anything about bonus feats for Strongheart halflings? Or by bonus feat do you mean the initial feat you get at first level? |
| runestar05-11-07, 10:36 PM | Strongheart halflings get a bonus feat(as detailed in FRCS), but they lose the halflings racial +1 bonus to all saves. Thus, a 1st lv character gets 2 feats(just like a human).:) |
| happydude05-11-07, 10:49 PM | Oh ok, I can see why that would be pretty beneficial then. :) I'm totally going that route, another feat is always welcome! |
| StevenO05-11-07, 11:37 PM | Perhaps there are more "Luck" bonuses out there than I think but it seems to me this feat is at least twice as good as many other feats. Dodge is +1 AC so this grants extra +1 to all Saves. The normal save boosters are +2 to this may only give half that but also gives +1 to the other two saves for a net +1 save AND that +1 AC. Unless I have something specific in mind that I NEED a lot of feats early this would be one of my top 3 feats to take with ANY character. |
| Gnarl05-12-07, 04:31 AM | Perhaps there are more "Luck" bonuses out there than I think but it seems to me this feat is at least twice as good as many other feats. It's a FR regional feat, it's supposed to be better than a regular feat. I usually don't take the feat because in my games, clerics are big fans of recitation and prayer. |
| Contrast05-12-07, 09:05 PM | I just checked both Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting and Oriental Adventures Campaign Setting, and neither version of the feat gave a +1 Luck bonus to AC. Was this added in an update to the feat appearing in the errata (which currently I cannot read) or in a more recent book? |

I would think it was in there. |
| Linklegacy7705-12-07, 10:42 PM | Indeed, according to the PGTF, a +1 luck bonus to AC and a +1 luck bonus to all saves. PGTF is also the precedent version. |
| Neutronium_Dragon05-13-07, 04:44 AM | The PGtF version is updated to 3.5E from the 3.0E FRCS version. The primary source of luck bonuses which cover those things is the Luckstone in the DMG (which also covers checks). There're some spells and other abilities which grant luck bonuses too. It's a nice feat, but the standard halfling's saving throw bonuses don't have stacking issues (which tends to become a problem as more bonus-providing options open up at higher levels), and feats are usually better spent on things which give you new capabilities rather than just adding flat bonuses. |
