| tenguroEd10-21-07, 01:26 AM | As the title tells you I made 2 feats DUH. Now I have them pretty much figured out but any suggestions would be awesome. First feat: Sneaky trip(I am thinking of a better name for it) Prerequisite: sneak attack +1D6, and Improved Trip Benefit: When a enemy is denied its DEX a rogue can use her sneak attack bonus (for example if she has 2D6 sneak attack) she gains +2 on her trip attempt. Takes -10 on all other attacks made that turn against the prone oppenant. Second Feat: (don't have a name for this one yet actually any suggestions would be cool) Prerequisite:Mindblade(possibly shape mindblade, give your opinion on this) (also thinking about adding martial weapon proficiniency(any) Benefit: When a soulknife is wielding a weapon (dagger, greatsword, etc) He can choose to sheath the blade in his mindblades energy, gaining the benefit to surpass DR, and still deal damage of the weapon wielded. A few kinks to work out, but I think it's a good, like I said any sggestions would be awesome. |
| CryoSilver10-21-07, 01:35 AM | I can see some abuse of the first feat: that's a big ole bonus on trips, and when dual wielding (as any combat focused rogue out to be), he can trip and stab in the same round. |
| vorpo10-21-07, 10:47 AM | As for the first feat, if you add a penalty to all other attacks you make this round, say -10, this will eliminate the concern cryosilvr has. If I remembered correctly, you get bonus on attacking prone targets. Therefore, the -10 is used to balance that bonus to avoid abuse. For the second feat: Prereq must be shape mindblade at least. This feat is, however, designed to bypass the various mindblade weapons feat. And thus I think is too powerful. Think about it, how much does a dwarven urgosh cost? And what about dire flail? With this feat alone plus the cost of mundane dwarven urgosh and dire flail, you can omit having the Dire Flail Mind Blade and Dwarven Urgosh Mind Blade feats. So, let's see. By spending 1 feat slot + 100~200 gp you basically replaced all the "Weapon" Mind blade feats. Not only that, mindblade alone has its own properties which is limited by your level. With this feat, using a magical weapon would be even more powerful. |

Any suggestion on how I can tune down the second feat so its not as powerful? or should I just get rid of it completley? Personally, I don't know if the 2nd feat is even necessary. After all, mindblade IS the catcheye ability of the class. While on avg it's viewed as underpowered, mindblade itself is still a good ability IMO. What's your thought process behind having to use additional weapons? |

Well the mindblade is limited to 1D6, 1D8, and if you choose to form it into the bastard sword shape, 1D10, so if your wielding a greatsword you get to use that (2D6)dice rolls for damage and you. Also (I guess this is were this feat is cheap) you don't have to spend money on magical bonuses, because, the weapon is covered in the mindblade, so you bypass the DR as a magic weapon. |
