The "Mage Slayer" feat from the Complete Arcane book can be applied to the Spell-like abilities?for example if a pit fiend casts "Meteor swarm" near a character with this feat, the pit fiend can't cast defensively mode?

Since spell-like abilities work just like spells in combat (Provoke AoOs, Cast Defensively, Concentration Checks) then I would answer: Yes, your mage slayer feat prevents defensive casting within squares that you threaten.

Until, of course, the Pit Fiend or any caster takes a 5' step and then zaps you good, rendering the feat moot in the vast majority of the time. Unless you have a Reach weapon.

Try Mage Slayer and a Chain whip and charging at the spell casters, i love that combo, no five foot steps with out getting hit, Twice sometimes

Edit: You know what i mean, if they just try to move normally.

actually wrong, you can not trigger more than 1 AOO from any one person per action, so even with a chain and the movement through 2 threatend squares you only get one, evne if he full moved and moved in circles around your character, you only get one. sorry :(.

You only get 1 AoO per action that provokes. If your oppoent moved more then 5 ft (without using the withdraw full round action), he would provoke an AoO for that, if he ended his movement still threatened by the same individual and cast a spell, he would provoke a second AoO (but the attacker could only take advantage of the second one if he had combat rflex's). You only get 1 AoO per action that provokes, but you get as many AoO's as your opponent performs different action that provoke, so long as your capable of taking advantage of them IE combat reflex's.

So your right about not provoking 2 AoO's for movement, but he could still make 2 AoO's, one for movement, one for casting while threatened.

As to the original poster, Although i personally houserule a fix to mage slayer, it does not work with SLA, only spellcasting (it's in the wording of the feat) and SLA are not considered spellcasting (in the wording of SLA in the PHB somewhere). As for my houserule (but it is a houserule), mage slayer allows it's user to make an AoO, even when the opponent casts a spell or SLA defensively. Using it the way it's writen for somereason, prevents the caster from even attempting to cast defensively, letting him know he can't cast and thus has to move first, changing the wording allows for a surprise the first time it's used (as it should), but allows the caster to still cast defensivly with regaurds to other people threatening him, even if the mage slayer can AoO through the defensive casting.
