| DMFighter1003-02-07, 06:32 PM | I have a question regarding many shot that I couldn't find in the D&D guru's answers. My question is in regards to the many shot feat. I see that it does not require a full round action to use. So, does that mean that, for example a ranger with said feat, one could use many shot for as many attacks that that person has. For instance, say you are a level 20 ranger with 4 attacks. Now you use Many Shot feat and with your BAB you could shoot 4 arrows at once. Since this does not require a full attack action however, does that mean you could do many shot for each of your 4 attacks for a full attack action resulting in 16 arrows in one turn? Not to mention I have read that improved many shot allows one to shoot more than 4 arrows per many shot, so theoretically this would multiply even further. Can someone help me with this riddle? Thanks |
| Zherog03-02-07, 06:35 PM | Manyshot is a standard action, not an "attack" action. Therefore, you can only make one "Manyshot" per round. |
| 3DJutsu03-02-07, 06:36 PM | No, because Manyshot requires a Standard action to use EDIT: damn Zherog beat me to it. But I'll do one better, I'll quote it! Manyshot [General] Prerequisites Dex 17, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, base attack bonus +6 Benefit As a standard action, you may fire two arrows at a single opponent within 30 feet. Both arrows use the same attack roll (with a -4 penalty) to determine success and deal damage normally (but see Special). For every five points of base attack bonus you have above +6, you may add one additional arrow to this attack, to a maximum of four arrows at a base attack bonus of +16. However, each arrow after the second adds a cumulative -2 penalty on the attack roll (for a total penalty of -6 for three arrows and -8 for four). Damage reduction and other resistances apply separately against each arrow fired. Special Regardless of the number of arrows you fire, you apply precision-based damage only once. If you score a critical hit, only the first arrow fired deals critical damage; all others deal regular damage. A fighter may select Manyshot as one of his fighter bonus feats. A 6th-level ranger who has chosen the archery combat style is treated as having Manyshot even if he does not have the prerequisites for it, but only when he is wearing light or no armor. |

| Lazzar03-03-07, 08:09 PM | If you could somehow access multiple standard actions however....:P If you could, but you can't, unless haste. To use your multiple attacks you need to use a full round action. EIther full rouind action or a standard, not both. |
| 3DJutsu03-03-07, 10:36 PM | If you could, but you can't, unless haste. To use your multiple attacks you need to use a full round action. EIther full rouind action or a standard, not both. Haste gives extra attack in a full-round action, not another standard action. |
| DarkRhystar03-03-07, 10:37 PM | Haste gives extra attack in a full-round action, not another standard action. He could be referring to 3.0's Haste... but that would be silly. :) |
| Raymond_Luxury_Yacht03-03-07, 11:17 PM | If you could somehow access multiple standard actions however....:P So Chokers. |
| nameneeded03-04-07, 12:14 AM | No, because Manyshot requires a Standard action to use EDIT: damn Zherog beat me to it. But I'll do one better, I'll quote it! Ur Funny! :D |
| darth_borehd03-04-07, 12:41 AM | Would the Heroic Surge feat allow another standard action? |
| Novacat03-04-07, 06:33 AM | So Chokers. A 20th level Chocker Ranger with Manyshot would be pretty sick. |
| Willie the Duck03-04-07, 05:30 PM | He would still only get two manyshots. given that he gets two of whatever he wants (that take a standard action), it's not that uber. It does mean you can get martial choker cheese instead of the standard spellcaster choker cheese, but in the end, spellcasting still trumps martial. |
| DMFighter1003-05-07, 01:49 PM | Thanks for all the responses. That clears it up for me. I don't know how I missed that detail in the first place. |
| fknretard03-07-07, 03:18 PM | Would the Heroic Surge feat allow another standard action? this is dnd bud not star wars |
| mugguod03-07-07, 04:44 PM | I was in a game last year where none of us including the Ranger player nor the DM had read the Feat descriptions carefully. He was combining Rapid Shot and Many Shot and using up a whole quiver of arrows every turn... Until we figured it out, we thought we had an Elf-Ranger Gattling Gun. The rest of the party was going to become NPCs just carrying extra ammo for him. :) |

| 3DJutsu03-08-07, 04:10 PM | You are not the 1st and you will not be the last. Too true, thus that is the purpose of these forums, so uninformed people become more knowlegble and pass what they learn onto others. ...what? Too philosophical? |
