Can anyone tell me where some of the martial arts styles or combat styles are? I'm looking for the styles like in the Oriental Adventures sourcebook, and in Dragon 303. I'ld prefer the ones that are a bunch of feats with some small benefit at the end of gaining them, but could also use some of the feats that are pretty much the style itself. Thanks in advance

So I've pretty much found all the fighting styles that are out there?

Unearthed Arcana has variation on Monk Styles. It's SRD material so you should be able to dig that up.

Book of 9 Swords has fighting styles as well, some are on the edge of anime if you are into or not into that.

Expanded Psionics also has some anime type feats if you're into that (running up walls & such).

There's a smattering of others in the Complete books. Complete Warrior for instance has a Sun School that has variations.

Hope that helps

OA-style fighting styles are silly -- they require way too many feats (meaning you can't be a master of a fighting style until VERY high level (15 or so on some) or have multiple Fighter levels) which also locks you into the role completely (meaning you can't possibly master a fighting style unless that's the only thing you ever do with your life; meanwhile I'm quite well aware of people with multiple black belts in several martial arts (up to four in one case!), university educations, Go ranks above 10dan, and still have enough time for random hobbies (and, in one guy I know's case, a full-time job separate from all of this!).

That said, there are other styles to choose from in Unearthed Arcana. And the Tome of Battle, actually, but that handles it fundamentally differently -- and better, in my opinion; seeing how OA tried to handle soft martial arts is just painful, while the ToB does it almost effortlessly.

Yup, you want an Akido type build with throws. You take Setting Sun.
You want a ninja/stealth type build. Take Shadow Hand.
You want a constantly on the move build. Go with Desert Wind.
You want a brutal attack type, take Stone Dragon.

Okay, thanks for the quick replies. I remember the styles in Unearthed Arcana now, thanks for reminding me, I had forgotten about them. I am most definitely using the Tome of Battle, as I truely enjoy the book, and I hadn't looked at Complete Warrior in a while, so I will check that out again.

I don't consider the Expanded Psionics Handbook feats that close to anime, but I was definitely using it anyway because it would be the "Ki" users of the world I am working on, standing in balance of the clerics and wizards (at least in the wielding of power).
