So I think I must be missing something about the Martial Study feat in the ToB/BoNS. My understanding is that by taking this feat you may select any maneuver you meet the prerequisite for. Looking at the 9th level maneuvers, the only prerequisites appear to be "Must have 4 (Martial School) maneuvers."

The implication here is that my 9th level Warblade with 4 Iron Heart maneuvers could take Martial Study and pick the 9th level Iron Heart maneuver for his feat maneuver.

This defies logic, so what am I missing about the Martial Study feat?

See table 3-1, the very beginning on how the entire system works. There are level requirements attached to each maneuver (i.e. for Strike of Perfect Clarity and other 9th level maneuvers, you need initiator level 17).
