when using both empower and maximize spell feats... do i ahve to roll to get a number to x1.5 for empower, or is the 100% damage(via maximize) x1.5?

The feats expressely state they don't interact:

Empowered Maximized Fireball does 60 + 10d6/2, not 90.

The FAQ gives really STUPID advice listing several other feats and claiming theses other feats DO interact (i.e. Maximize + Twin Spell does 120 pts of damage, instead of 60 + 10d6 like it should do)

This is despite the fact that Maximize + Energy Admixture or Maximize + Twin spell then ends up being EXACTLY identical to an Epic feat that has pre-reqs of Maximize plus Empower. Maximize + Repeat Spell ends up being cheaper than the Epic feat and in many situations BETTER than it.

I.E. The FAQ people screwed the pooch and if they had their head on right they would admit their mistake and change what they wrote in the FAQ.

End result, if you follow the instructions as given by WoTC in the core books + FAQ, Maximize plus Empower are the single worst pairing of feats, all others are better

[Stuff]Bogus.

First off, the FAQ's purpose is to clarify unclear rules or to otherwise untangle messes. And that's what it's doing here. It's not a mistake, because the rules don't say so.

Besides, Empower + Maximize is a special case in which the feats themselves state how things work. The general rules do not state this. Don't assume that's how they work just from a single case.

So Intensify Spell is made less useful, or at least effectively available pre-epic.

So?

Unless you invest everything into it, direct damage is a relatively weak option. Even a Maximized Twinned Scorching Ray does only 144 damage to its target on six touch attacks. I've seen full attacks that deal double that with less investment. I've seen pouncers that require the same investment, but can do this round after round.

I'm afraid I have to call "shenanigans" on Tarkin's answer.

All metamagic feats stack with one another, unless explicitely stated otherwise.

On the other hand, in reply to the original poster's question, maximise and empower do explicitely state they don't stack.

So, you roll the damage for the spell as normal, take half that number, then add the maximised damage.

Extend + empower + acid arrow + run like hell and hide is an effective tactic sometimes. They stack very nicely.

To quote the SRD

Maximize Spell [Metamagic]
Benefit

All variable, numeric effects of a spell modified by this feat are maximized. Saving throws and opposed rolls are not affected, nor are spells without random variables. A maximized spell uses up a spell slot three levels higher than the spell’s actual level.

An empowered, maximized spell gains the separate benefits of each feat: the maximum result plus one-half the normally rolled result.

There is your answer.

Alright... if metamagic feats do stack with each other, here's a question for you, because I was having trouble with this one:

Repeated Imbued Summon Monster

Imbued Summoning - You can affect one of your summoned creatures with a 3rd level of lower touch spell that you have prepared.

Repeat - casts the same spell again in the following round.

Now, if Metamagic feats stack with each other, unless specifically indicated otherwise - does this mean that if I cast the above spell, that I can have one Imbued Summoned monster come out the first round and that a 2nd imbued summoned monster comes out in the following round?

So let's say I summon an Invisible Celestial Hippogriff, repeated. I get a 2nd Invisible Celestial Hippogriff in the following round?

Yes?
