So, if anyone would be so kind, point me to something other than the PHB that explains this. The PHB is the primary rules source, and the only real source of the rules. The explanation of how Maximise and Empower work together is in the rules text for Maximise Spell.Maximize Spell [Metamagic] Benefit All variable, numeric effects of a spell modified by this feat are maximized. Saving throws and opposed rolls are not affected, nor are spells without random variables. A maximized spell uses up a spell slot three levels higher than the spell’s actual level. An empowered, maximized spell gains the separate benefits of each feat: the maximum result plus one-half the normally rolled result. That last line is all you need to know. Roll the dice, halve the result, then add the maximum possible result. So (say) for a Maximised, Empowered Fireball, roll 10d6, halve the result and add 60. If you roll 40 on 10d6 then you do 40/2 + 60 or 80 damage. |

| cwslyclgh02-24-07, 05:41 PM | the rule in the PHB is plain as day, if he refuses to believe it written in plain words like that there is nothing that you, I, or anybody else could say that would change his mind... |
