If yes, then if you have 5 rank in tumble you will get +1 to your AC If you use a Quaterstaff as weapon and your a monk. Do you need to take the feat Two weapon fighting as prerequisite to get Two weapon defense Feat... like the Staff is a special weapon for Monk and you got Flurrys of Blow. If you do need to take Two weapon Figthing, then what happen when you do use Flurrys of Blow and Two weapon fighting, are your getting 3 attack and if so, what are your malus (-2,-2 with full strenght with Flurrys and -2 with half-strengh) or (-4,-4,-4) or Two weapon fighting useless for Monk with a staff. Thanks, Camarnier |

If you use a Quaterstaff as weapon and your a monk. Do you need to take the feat Two weapon fighting as prerequisite to get Two weapon defense Feat... like the Staff is a special weapon for Monk and you got Flurrys of Blow. You still need to take two-weapon fighting to qualify for two-weapon defense. When using a flurry of blows while two-weapon fighting, you get three attacks at -4, and you apply your full strength bonus to two attacks but only half-strength to the last one. Any of these attacks could be with either the staff or an unarmed strike. |

| Count Arioch the 28th09-02-07, 02:34 PM | Keep in mind that when you flurry with a quarterstaff, you only apply 1x strength bonus, not 1.5x strength bonus. |
| strenoth09-02-07, 11:56 PM | Keep in mind that when you flurry with a quarterstaff, you only apply 1x strength bonus, not 1.5x strength bonus. Actually, I do not believe the rules state that, unless I missed a section. You would therefor get x1.5 str bonus so long as you are using the QS at a Tw-handed weapon (as opposed to a dual-weapon) |
| Count Arioch the 28th09-03-07, 12:43 AM | Actually, I do not believe the rules state that, unless I missed a section. You missed a section. When using weapons as part of a flurry of blows, a monk applies her Strength bonus (not Str bonus × 1½ or ×½) to her damage rolls for all successful attacks, whether she wields a weapon in one or both hands. |
| strenoth09-03-07, 12:38 PM | aha, Ok. hmm, so does that over write the TWF 1/2 str penalty when combining TWF and Flurry? |
| DM Zoc09-03-07, 02:26 PM | aha, Ok. hmm, so does that over write the TWF 1/2 str penalty when combining TWF and Flurry? No, it still only deals 1/2 str for the extra attacks granted from the TWF feats. |
| Count Arioch the 28th09-04-07, 01:46 AM | That is correct. Think of it this way: Flurry gives you one extra attack at your highest attack bonus, while all attacks get -2 to hit until the next round. This attack applies 1x your strength bonus. Two Weapon Fighting gives you an extra attack with your off-hand at your highest base attack bonus, and gives you -2 to all attacks until the next round. This attack applies 1/2 your strength bonus. Therefore, you get one flurry attack that you apply 1x your strength bonus to, and one off-hand attack that you only apply 1/2 your strength bonus to. All attacks suffer a -4 penalty to attack, since all penalties stack. |
| Dheran09-04-07, 07:27 AM | Keep in mind that when you flurry with a quarterstaff, you only apply 1x strength bonus, not 1.5x strength bonus. Thanks for pointing that out, Arioch. I overlooked this limit, too. |
